Description

The Llaca is a glacier and lake of the Ancash region, in the Huascaran National Park. Come with me to this easy hike of 2 hours with great views of nature!

It’s my pleasure to invite you to this 1-day trek to the Llaca Lagoon. Its glacier is originated at 6,123 meters of altitude in a glacial cirque, where the Ocshapalca and the Ranrapalca peaks dominate the scene.

At the foot of this glacier there is the Llaca lagoon, which is usually known as the Llaca-Alley-Huaylas-Ancash glaciar lake. It pours its flow through the Santa River, into the Pacific Ocean.

During this hike, you will admire how well preserved are the Wilcahuaín archaeological remains. They belong to the Huari culture, a very interesting Andean civilization.

Regarding the itinerary of the day, we’ll meet in Huaraz. From there a transfer will take us to the village of Wilcahuain (below the Quebrada Llaca).

Then, we’ll arrive at the hut of the School of Mountain Guides from Peru (CEAM) at 4450 meters of height. So, we’ll start hiking up to the Llaca Lagoon, with several snowy peaks around us. Reaching the end of the lake, we can touch the ice or do some practices of ice climbing. Finally, we’ll return to Huaraz, where you’ll spend the night in a hotel.

This adventure is available all year round. I can lead private groups as well as larger ones, with 20 guests or more. I don’t have an open group to join yet so I will open a new one once you contact me.

It’s your opportunity to live a unique adventure in the famous Peruvian Cordillera Blanca, don’t miss it. Get in touch with me and let’s get to the amazing Llaca Lagoon!

He was very kind, patient and helped me to reach my goal the citadel of Machupicchu. One day I wanted to quit but he encouraged me to continue and waited for my step.

We did the MTB-Huarascan-Circuit (Crossing Punta Olimpica Pass and Portachuelo de Llanganuco Pass) with Eric Albinos „Peru Expedition“. All, the transfers, the hotel stays, the acclimatization tours and the circuit itself, was well organized. Eric and his staff were flexible to our wishes and very helpful. Our Guide Joni is an excellent mountain bike-guide and good tailor too if something is torn. The cook prepared delicious meals during the circuit. The camping equipment was in very good condition. We (Karin, Franz. Wolfgang) can fully recommend „Eric´s Peru Expeditions“.

The agency gave me a guide Darwin, not Juventino. Climb was good, easy just walking. There is one dangerous section near the moraine area with very loose gravel. So make sure you don't slip there or you are dead. I stayed in refugio at the base camp which was much more comfy than camping. Darwin was good but give clients some breaks once in a while, not rush too much. It's a high altitude climbing after all.
