Description

Dive into the spectacular scenery of the Vosges Mountains and hike through some of the most evocative terrain in France! This weekend program allows you to trek through the unequalled nature of Lac de Pierre-Percee, Mont Donon, and Col de la Chapelotte for an ultimate adventure in eastern France!

When it comes to natural beauty, the Vosges of eastern France are tough to beat. The low mountains are replete with fascinating fauna, including boars, owls, and the chamois. The region is enriched by its wild serenity, its enveloping and relentless nature. We will check into the wilderness for a few days, immersing ourselves in some of the most awe-inspiring aspects of the Vosges.

We will hike to one of the high points in the Lower Vosges, Mont Donon. This 1,009-meter peak has long been a site of intrigue for the French. In ancient times, it served as a dedication to the Roman God Mercury. During World War I, it was the location of a major battle. The remains of a temple stand at the top today, along with a commemoration to Victor Hugo. From the temple, you can look out across the region, all easily spotted from the looming Donon.

We will also travel along charming paths and along forested valleys to reach the Lac de Pierre-Percee. This peaceful body of water will delight you with its maple-leafed shape, paying a natural homage to the North American country of Canada. Also known as “Petite Canada,” we will peruse its 35-kilometers of trails and admire the lush green flora winding around its shoreline. Hiking to and around the lake is a hands-on and active way for us to experience this stunning landmark.

Our next stop on the Vosges hiking tour will be at the Col de la Chapelotte, a cultural gold mine for history buffs and Francophiles. The Valley of the Plain will whisk you away to the early 20th century and France’s involvement in the war. From trench battles to the indomitable zeppelins, you will discover compelling true stories that occurred at the site. These evocative tales combine with the nature for a mesmerizing and everlasting experience in a tranquil and historic region.

The goal is to enjoy all three of these amazing Vosges destinations and immerse ourselves in its forested scenery. Everyone is encouraged to join this tour. A passion for hiking is all you need. I will ensure we have a fun, safe, and fulfilling experience touring the countryside and getting acquainted with one of the most astounding areas in France.

Book this all-encompassing weekend program NOW and explore the Vosges and some of the most profound natural landmarks in France: Mont Donon, Lac de Pierre-Percee, and Col de la Chappelotte!
