Join Saša Škugor, an UIMLA local guide, and discover the wild side of Croatia in this guided tour: unspoiled forests, mountains and a wide range of fauna.
I invite you to a short hiking trip in Croatia, visiting wild and isolated spots that very few people know. If we are lucky, we can find some typical fauna of the forest and mountains!
Besides the most famous and visited hiking trails in Croatia, there are another options for adventurous travelers. Although it’s not common to find other hikers in these places, there are many possibilities to follow the trace of wild animals, and learn exciting things about their way of life.
Of course, I cannot guarantee to observe wild animals because they are usually shy and try to hide. But, if you are lucky enough and you follow my instructions, you may experience unforgettable encounters, always at a safe distance (for us and also to avoid disturbing the animals).
As a guide, my purpose is to preserve their habitat, as well as educating travelers.
I really love nature and I enjoy very much listening and feeling the forest. Specially during dusk and dawn, when you can observe most of wildlife.
Among the fauna living in Croatian forests and mountains I can mention brown bear, grey wolf, lynx, deer and chamoix. Many of them live in unspoiled areas.
The regions we can visit for this trip are Gorski Kotar, Lika and Velebit.
We can arrange this trip in any time of the year. In fact, each season offers different possibilities to be close with nature.
Please contact me if you love nature and want to discover Croatia in a different way. We can organize from a half-day trip to a 2-day adventure. I will be happy to show you some secret spots in this amazing country!
I was born in 1980 and I live in Rijeka, Croatia. I’ve always loved nature and I am a hiker since 2004. In 2011, I became a member of the Croatian Mountain Guides Association and then, in 2013, I received the UIMLA certification.
I mostly guide in the Dinaric Mountains of Croatia, organizing trips in areas of Gorski Kotar, Velebit and Lika.
I practice standard hiking and orientation in the forest. In fact, I really like to listen and feel the forest, especially in dusk and dawn when most of wildlife observing happens.
