Jun Ishiguro, JMGA mountain guide, takes you to a 1-day or several days of backcountry and ski touring around Sapporo, in the island of Hokkaido.
Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Dec
Join me for one or several days of backcountry skiing / ski touring in the area of Sapporo, on Hokkaido island, in Japan.
The mountains all around have very light powder snow and great forests that will make the experience unique! We have this type of snow because of the cold winds that come from North China and Siberia. In fact, the amount of snow that falls every year here is very impressive!
Depending on the snow and weather conditions, as well as your wishes, we will pick up the best spots to go skiing.
There are many spots to go either backcountry or off-piste skiing in the surroundings of Hokkaido's famous ski resorts, like Sapporo Teine, Sapporo Kokusai, Kiroro, Niseko, Rusutsu, Yubari, Kamui, Furano, Tomamu, Sahoro. Our objectives: deep snow and no track!
We will ski between 6 and 8 hours a day.
Besides, you will enjoy delicious food and natural hot springs (onsen) which are part of the Japanese culture.
Please contact me if you want to go skiing in Hokkaido. It would be unique experience!
I also organize other trips in Japan, like climbing Mount Fuji and canyoning in the Kuwaun-nai river.
- Guiding fee
If you want to book my services during the weekend, my daily fee is of 60,000 yen, to divide among participants.
Equipment: Renting ski equipment in Japan is not easy but I can try to do it for you. I will need you to give me the model and the size of the DYNASTAR boots that fit your feet. Please let me know also your size (for the skis). Here are the renting prices:

Jun was a very safe and knowledgeable guide for our one day skiing trip for Yotei. He knew lots about the snowpack and the local wildlife and trees. We felt safe the entire time and really appreciated the pace he went at. Would recommend!
