Description

I invite you to discover some of the most remote and beautiful corners in Kyrgyzstan during this 9-day horseback riding traverse. You will not only admire breathtaking landscapes but also experience the genuine Kyrgyz nomadic way of life, which is part of our ancient history and culture.

During the trip, we will visit Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul lakes, the two largest lakes in the country, and ride along the foothills of Tamga and Tosor.

We will meet in Bishkek, the capital city of the country, and from there we will drive to Tamga, at the foot of Issyk-Kul Lake. Starting from Tamga we will spend 3 days hiking and riding around Tamga and Tosor gorges, passing by Tien-Shan fir forest in Chegedek gorge and Tamga-Tash stone (an ancient historical monument of Buddist culture).

We will then drive to Kyzart village, and there we’ll get on the horses again to spend a couple of days to get to Son-Kul, a beautiful blue mirror lake at 3016m in a plateau surrounded by endless green pastures and high mountains. Here, we’ll experience the nomad way of life while staying at yurts, and we might see wild herds of yak grazing in high mountains.

Once we are back in Bishkek, you will understand why the Kyrgyz people appreciate and value their horses so much, as they are the most convenient and reliable companions on mountain trails.
