Description

Dominated by the breathtaking sights of the rugged Koocanusa National Forest is Stillwater Canyon in the wild state of Montana.

In a landscape where rocky peaks hang and gushing rivers flow, the backdrop here is ideal to learn the fundamentals of trad climbing.

Stillwater Canyon is part of the Stryker climbing site, and is home to around 40 various climbing routes.

The great Stillwater River cuts through the verdant national forest, following the course way of the canyon.

The quality and hard argillite rock, along with shaded spots sheltered by thick forest, form ideal and comfortable conditions for thrilling climbs.

As an introduction course, you’ll learn essential climbing and safety tips, beginning with an initial mock lead, climbing while being attached to a top rope for protection.

The focus during the course is on proper technique, how to organise equipment such as cams, nuts and hexes, as well as correct tactics.

During your development and increase in skill and confidence, you may also be able to lead without the aid of a top rope.

Potential participants must have a good level of fitness as well as having previous climbing experience.
