Join Ryan and his professionally trained AMGA Guides on a trip to the popular Mission Gorge for some sweet single-pitch climbing routes in California.
The charm of southern California extends into the foothills and mountains, so if you want a great experience that isn’t too far out, this single-pitch program will be right up your alley.
Mission Gorge is an immensely popular destination – you will feel right at home at this venue! It’s a great location that caters to both half days and full days, depending on what you have in mind. It also has great routes for beginners, and even some more challenging climbs if anyone is looking for something a touch more difficult.
Shaded from the heat of the morning sun, this year-round spot is sure to please every climber. The climate and the atmosphere will make you comfortable all day long. The trails are clear, and access is easy, so you will have no trouble getting out there and enjoying yourself on the rock.
I know Mission Gorge like the back of my hand, so I can help you achieve your personal goals and get you ready to take the next step in your career. If you want to have fun and get the practice necessary to progress as a climber, I am ready to carve out a plan just for you to make that happen.
I have a program for everyone, so if you are an advanced climber I can provide a valuable opportunity to improve as well. As long as you have a passion for the sport, you are going to have a blast.

I am the founder of Golden State Guiding and an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor.
I have been climbing all over California for over 10 years from Joshua Tree and the High Sierra and from Yosemite to Owen's River Gorge. I enjoy climbing in all its forms but alpine starts, long approaches and high elevation gains are my favorite. The grueling days and long routes of the Sierras are where my heart lies.
At Golden State Guiding, we hold a valid permit to guide you legally in California´s Sierras. Golden State Guiding has only professional Guides trained by the AMGA who know all the ins and outs in these mountains and we´ll take you to all the best spots!
These are some of the spots where we can take you:
- Joshua Tree
- San Diego (Mission Gorge, Mount Woodson)
- Eastern Sierra (Lone Pine Peak, Mt Humphrey’s, Mt Emerson, Mount Sill, Bear Creek Spire, Laurel Mountain, Temple Crag, Crystal Crag, Cardinal Pinnacle, Iris Slab, Mammoth Lakes Basin, Clark Canyon)
- Red Rock
I climbed with Greg and he was not only knowledgeable and helpful, but also super encouraging and just generally nice! I had a wonderful experience learning and climbing!!!
