Meeting-arrival at Mount Ishinca Base Camp
We will meet and start our adventure by driving for about 15 km through the Callejon de Huaylas until reaching Puente Mullaca. We will then turn and continue driving on a dirt road passing the villages of Collon and Pashpa up to Cochapampa at 3500 meters. We will walk upwards easily and arrive at the Mount’s Base Camp where we will spend the night.
Attemp Summit day
We will commence our second climbing day by waking up very early, still night. We will cross a good trail and reach the Laguna Ishinca at 4950 meters approx. After that, we will continue walling along a steep path up the beginning of the glacier which will become our starting point for climbing on ice and snow. The final slope will be one of 45º to 50º.
For our descent, we can go down through the same route or traverse the peak and follow the west ridge passing between Ranrapalca and Ishinca and continue to the Base Camp.
Walk back to Cochapampa-End of trip
At the end of our trip, we will have to walk down along the Ishinca Valley to Cochapampa where the private transportation will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz.
