In the Hautes-Alpes area of France, there are many beautiful ski resorts to visit, especially in the winter. One of the nicest places however, and where we will go on this trip is La Grave. This small commune that has a population of less than 500 people rests underneath the majestic La Meije mountain (3,982m).
While La Grave is stunning to look at, it is also quite famous for its ice climbing, which we will be enjoying on this day trip. There are several different ice falls to choose from, ranging in height from 100 to 300 metres. They also range in difficulty as well. There are less taxing ice falls like La Gorge, and more difficult ones that are perfect for experts looking for a real challenge, like Diabolobite.
Before we choose which ice fall to climb, based on your level and desires, we will perform an equipment check. Once we reach the ice fall and start climbing, you will learn as you climb. You will practice skills that include learning how to properly utilise your equipment, how to properly position yourself on the ice fall, and much more.
Ice climbing in La Grave is unforgettable. And on this trip, my intention is for you to not only enjoy every minute of it, but to also learn as much as possible. So if you want to indulge in a memorable experience, please send me a request. It would be my pleasure to guide you.
Are you an ice climbing beginner looking for an experience in the Hautes-Alpes area that is geared just for you? If that is the case, I can also guide you on this half day ice climbing trip in Briancons.

The price does include a helmet and harness, but does not include equipment such as crampons, ice axe and shoes; however, those items can rented.

I'm a fully certified IFMGA mountain guide from Les Hautes Alpes. I'm based very close to the National Park of Queyras.
I was born in a farm in Haute Savoie. I grew up with cows and when I was 1 1/2 years old, I climbed my first mountain...Nooo, I'm just kidding !
I come from Paris and I actually started sailing before mountaineering. I studied in a business school and I realized few years later that actually, my passion was not to sit behind a computer all day but to guide friends and clients in the mountains.
I now live in Les Hautes Alpes and I'll be happy to bring you up there and let you live an unique time. So please contact me and let's start planning a mountain trip you would like to do, during the winter or the summer, for 1/2 or several days !
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
