Description

Winding through the remote and stunning wilderness of central Peru, the Lares Trek is a gorgeous and unique way to head to Machu Picchu.

Situated just east of the Incan citadel, the trek takes avid hikers through the mountains from one idyllic town to Ollantaytambo. From here, we take the train to Aguas Calientes and visit Machu Picchu on our final day.

However, the adventure begins with three glorious days of trekking. Each day, we will climb mountain ridges and traverse high mountain passes, enjoying sublime views out over the rugged highlands, snow-capped mountains and verdant valleys, characteristic of this part of Peru.

Among the many highlights of the trip will be climbing to the summit of Sicllaccasa Mountain and enjoying panoramic views of our gorgeous surroundings.

Hiking the valley floors, seeing Incan ruins and visiting traditional villages will also serve as the perfect opportunity to learn about the area's rich culture and history.

However, the indisputable highlight of the trip will be Machu Picchu. The last day of the trip will be spent first touring the historic place, learning about how, when and why it was built.

We'll conclude the tour by heading up above the city and taking some iconic photographs of the site before returning back down to Aguas Calienetes and eventually Cusco.

So what are you waiting for? Book now for this unforgettable 4-day Lares Trek to Machu Picchu, in the heart of Peru!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
