There are many ways to reach Machu Picchu, but walking along the Salktantay is one of the best options. The Salkantay is a sacred road that connects Cuzco to Machu Picchu, via Mollepata. This road is considered one of the top 25 trips from around the world by National Geographic Adventure.
The Salkantay is a unique opportunity to unveil Peru’s best guarded treasures. It is located 50 km northeast of Cuzco, in the Vilcabamba mountain range, in the south of Peru. During our trip, we will reach high altitudes, passing through Humantay (4,800 m) and Challhuay (3,900 m).
Not only will you experience the enchanting atmosphere of the Salkantay, you will also see other wonderful places. You will venture through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, just outside of Cuzco. Beautiful towns such as Aguascalientes, Calca, Urumbamba, Santa Teresa and Pisac, will be the scenarios of countless adventures. An array of mesmerizing spots will enchant you, from a well preserved Inca mural, to thermal waters and coffee plantations.
In addition to the star of our trip, Machu Picchu, you will have the opportunity to see other archaeological sites. I will guide you to Moray, near the Maras Salt Mines. We will also contemplate Ollantaytambo, a religious, agricultural and military center that was built to protect the valley.
Please note you will need to be in good physical condition to join this trip.

I like mountaineering and skiing. I recently completed the ski certification in Argentina, so I'm one of the few fully IFMGA certified guides in Peru. I've also guided in Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina and the Alps.
Some of my favourite trips are climbing in the Dolomites, Fitz Roy in El Chalten, and mountain biking across Peru, Bolivia and Chile.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
