Description

An amazing mountain in the Rockies of Alberta, Mount Andromeda (3,450m) is a fantastic place to enjoy some thrilling ski mountaineering, which will be the focus of this trip that will last one or more days.

Located in the incredible Columbia Icefield, which is definitely worth a visit, Mount Andromeda awaits at the foot of the Athabasca glacier.

During this trip, we will start very early, so we can make the summit with plenty of daylight available. As a result, you will get to properly enjoy the nearly 1,600 meter descent.

The ascent will involve a challenging journey through the crevasses of the Athabasca glacier. After that, we will make our way from the col that separates Andromeda and little Andromeda to a false summit. From there, we will continue up to the peak’s real summit. At the summit, you will get to enjoy tremendous views of the majestic surroundings. Some highlights of what you’ll see include Mount Columbia, Castleguard and the enormous Columbia Icefield.

Because this trip involves some challenging parts during the ascent and a long descent, participants should be in good physical condition. It is also important you have prior ski mountaineering experience and can ski at a minimum single black diamond level.

One of the highest and most beautiful peaks in the Rockies of Alberta, Mount Andromeda is the perfect place for ski mountaineering. And when you also incorporate the Columbia Icefield and the Athabasca glacier, you are in for a treat. To enjoy this trip, just send me a request.

I can also take you ski mountaineering on Mount Hector on this trip.

I recommend booking with Brent no matter what level of climber you are. He is able to cater the day to exactly what you'll be looking for. In my experience, making the transition to outdoor climbing can be intimidating for a number of reasons. But with the way these routes are bolted, there's a level of comfort not typically found outdoors. Again, I recommend this to anyone at any level. It can be as challenging or as easy of a day as you want it to be.

Brent single-handedly convinced us that we need to return to Canmore. He was highly meticulous and professional, which everyone who is climbing should appreciate in a guide. Thanks Brent! You made our trip amazing.

Admin was efficient for paying Communications were hit and miss. Took too long to answer questions about the day / route etc. We were beginners and the guide chose a route that was too challenging. One member of group dropped out the day before. The requested refund never even got a reply about. Let alone confirmation

Brent is an excellent guide. He was stoked to be able to share his mountain environment with others. Unfortunately he had damaged his knee so arranged for another local guide to take me out for the day. Ethan was also exceptional. Brent got in contact to ensure my day was tailored to me my experience and to ensure I got the most out of the day. I was without a car so Brent picked me up and dropped me off I had a great morning in the mountains learning new techniques for multi pitch routes and then spent the afternoon working on my trad gear placement and anchor building. Excellent instruction on gear placement and rating it. We fitted so much into the day. But always with an inclusive teaching style. I can’t recommend them enough. Both guides passionately sharing their knowledge and teaching skills, keen for their clients to learn to be more independent safer and capable in the mountains.
