Description

Mount Waddington (4019 m) is the highest peak in the spectacular Coast Mountains, in British Columbia. Its North West summit (4000 m) is one of the most interesting ski mountainering challenges in this breathtaking mountain range. Join me on this 7-day tour and enjoy this Canadian classic!

The main summit of Mount Waddington is a technical ascent and only reachable during summer by experienced mountaineers. So while our main goal during this expedition will be Mount Waddington’s Northwest summit, there are many other interesting peaks in the area for a great ski mountaineering experience. During these days we may ascend and ski down Mount Munday, Cavalier, Jester and Finality Mountains.

We will meet at Bluff Lake, British Columbia, the day before we start the trip for a relaxing dinner and final gear check. Next day, a helicopter will take us to this untouched wilderness area, to the Dias Glacier where we will set up our base camp.

During Day 3 and Day 7 of our trip, we will ascend Mount Waddington Northwest summit. Ideally, we will first go on some ski tours to the nearby summits for acclimatization. You can check the day-by-day itinerary below.

During these days, you will have the opportunity of ski-mountaineering some of the most breathtaking peaks and glaciers in British Columbia, while you discover the impressive Waddington Icecap area.

Please note this trip is suitable for ski mountaineers with and intermediate to advance level. You also need to be and advanced intermediate downhill skier and have previous overnight winter camping experience.
