Highlights

* Reach the summit of Ampato with a local and experienced guide

* Meet an archaeological team that works in the area

* Learn about the local culture and history

Description

Ampato (6,288m) is a dormant stratovolcano located in the southern part of Peru. Also, this stunning volcano forms part of the Andes mountain range. And its closeness to the city of Arequipa, make is very accessible. It is a sight you simply cannot miss. So join me on this 2-day ascent to reach its summit.

On the first day, I’ll pick you up from Arequipa, and we’ll head towards Patapampa. On the way there, we’ll get to enjoy some other equally impressive sights and mesmerizing sceneries. Then, we’ll drive to Sallali at the base of the mountain. And from there, we’ll keep on going until we reach base camp (5,260m). Finally, we’ll spend the night camping there.

Day two will be full of surprises as well. We’ll start our journey early in the morning. We’ll approach the summit slowly, allowing ourselves plenty of time for acclimatization. And when we finally get to stand at the top, the views we’ll get are just incomparable.

What’s more, we’ll visit an archaeological spot, and meet the team that discovered the Dama de Ampato. So we’ll also get to learn about the local culture and history, surrounded by hypnotizing views.

Finally, we’ll head back towards Camp 1. There, private transportation will be waiting for us to take us back to Arequipa.

So if you are up for this mountaineering adventure in the south of Peru, just send me a request. It will be my pleasure to guide you to the summit of Ampato.
