A 3-day climb trip through a beautiful summit of Cordillera Blanca: Nevado Maparaju. Join into a great ice climb with Octavio, a certified mountain guide.
Nevado Maparaju is located in the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca, more precisely in the Cayesh Gorge. It has an altitude of around 5326 meters and it’s an ideal peak for acclimatization before attempting higher summits.
I propose a 3-day program in which besides we climb Nevado Maparaju, we’ll explore the glaciers and lakes surrounding enjoying the beautiful landscapes it offers.
– DAY 1: Meeting at Huaraz. From there we drive to Quilcayhuanca gorge where we begin our trail through a valley to Cayesh. We set the camp.
– DAY 2: This is the summit day. We’ll start our climb early in the morning. Once on the top of Nevado Maparaju (5326m) we’ll appreciate great views of the Cayesh mountains. Afterwards, we descend to Camp.
– DAY 3: Finally, we return to Quilcayhuanca where a vehicle will be waiting us to go back to Huaraz.
This climb has a moderate difficulty despite being classified as easy. Under those circumstances, I recommend climbers to have a good physical condition.

I was born and raised in the hamlet of Yarush in 1987, at the foot of the Cordillera Blanca. From very young age i was born my passion for the mountains. In 2003 I started as enthusiast to climbing in rock next to my brother Eloy. In 2009 i obtained the title as ''official guide of high mountain'', i also ranks first in his class.
I enjoys doing sports climbing and opening new avenues in the cordillera Blanca, and in other countries. My wide experience has meant that he has climbed most of the mountains in cordillera blanca.
