Frey hut area is a destination for all ski touring adepts and freeriders who visit Bariloche. If you want to ski in a place with the best winter scenery, this is it!
Frey hut area is in a valley south of Catedral ski resort. This area is excellent for skiing chutes and do many descents on slopes 400 mts average. It is possible to acces to all orientations, so it is most likely able to ski the best snow conditions at all times.
Orange granite surround Frey hut, with spiers that make up chutes for excellent descents. The shelter has the basic facilities needed to stay and relax, such as dormitories, meals, heating, hot water and bathrooms.
Does this ski touring trip in the Frey Hut area sound interesting? Then please contact me! Other ski destinations in the area include for example Cerro Lopez and El Bolsón, have a look if you want me to guide you there!
We start early in the morning up to Catedral ski resort, where we go up using the lifts. We then continue with backcountry skis to the edge of the mountain, from where we make a 600 m descent to the Van Titter Valley. From there we ascend 300 m to the Frey hut. After lunch there we enjoy skiing during the afternoon in the classic spots around the area, such as Roca Inclinada, Piramidal, etc.
We wake up early for a whole skiing day, enjoying the best chutes in the area. There are plenty of options: Canaleta de la Principal, Cinta Vecinal, East from Principal to Campanile valet, etc. We can either go back to the hut for lunch or continue until the afternoon skiing.
There are several options to return from the hut to the ski resort, and depending on the weather and snow conditions I decide the best one. We can do the last descents in the area and then go back through the Van Titter valley to the edge of Cerro Catedral. In case of bad weather the option is to return through the normal trail of Frey hut.

The paragliding experience was unbelievable! Getting to see Bariloche and it's surrounding lake and mountains was breathtaking. I would definitely do this again. Pablo was an amazing guide. He was very knowledgable and had a lot of experience paragliding. He gave clear instructions on how to take off and made you feel safe every step of the away. Throughout the trip, he will capture pics and videos for you to take home. He was very friendly and always looked out for your best interest.
