Cerro López is an iconic mountain in the area of Bariloche, in North Patagonia. It was the birthplace of mountaineering for many generations.
Here you can find many itineraries for ski touring in a stunning setting. Each of them has different levels of difficulty.
From descents in the forest between lenga trees, to large slopes and gutters in good inclination in the high mountain, Cerro López and its surrounding peaks will let you enjoy unforgettable moments of skiing and freeride.
The three main routes to ski in Cerro López are the following:
Forest Filo de las Cabras
This is the shortest and safest option. It's ideal for skiing in special days when the weather is hostile to exit forest protection or when the conditions of avalanche risk are high.
Filo de las Cabras – Magnat
This is an excellent route to ski a lot in one day, changing environments and orientations. Once here, we can stay on the hillside that has the best snow, or reach two summits in one day. Depending on the physical condition of the group, we can make several descents.
Cerro López route
This route is also very good, because we can ski many vertical meters (over 600) and enjoy good snow and beautiful landscapes. This option is perhaps the most physically demanding. However, we can always dose the effort to manage the amount of descents we can perform.
The views from the summit and the slope of the descent are a great reward.
