Description

I am happy to propose you this fun and challenging trekking day to the Paron Lagoon!

The Paron Lagooon is located at 4200 meters above sea level, 25 km East of Caraz in Anchash, Perú. It is the most important fresh water reservoir of the Callejón de Huaylas. With a maximum of 76 meters deep, it contains 55 million cubic meters of pure water.

Furthermore, its landscape is really stunning since it is surrounded by several snow-capped peaks. And the Pirámide de Garcilaso (5885 m), at the end of the lagoon, stands out wonderfully.

The hiking route towards the Paron Lagoon goes through a 1000m-high granite walls canyon. On our trek we will also find the demanding Paron Tower, a rock-climbing wall known as “Sphinx”.

This 1-day trek is suitable for fit and well-trained hikers. In addition, it is very important to be in the company of a local mountain guide since you can end up walking in circles if you do not know the place. Keep in mind that this trek has a dangerous section on the south shore of the lagoon that is impossible to pass because of the potential falls up to 100 meters. So, here the trail disappears and you must follow an unmarked way.

As for the itinerary, the meeting point will be in Huaraz. From there, our private transfer will drive to Caraz. Here we will pass by a little farming town, taking a dirt road that will lead us to the beautiful lagoon. We will hike to the end of the lake, which is an easy 2-hour hike with the greatest views. Finally, we will return to Huaraz and spend the night in a hotel of the city.

This trekking adventure can be run for large groups of more than 15 people. I don’t have an open group to join. We must open a new group. I can also offer private tours in any dates, all year round.

Contact me if you want to start with the booking process. Getting to the Paron Lagoon is an experience you cannot miss!
