Description

Quebrada Nacimiento is 7 km from the town of Socaire and about 100 km from San Pedro de Atacama, in northern Chile. It is an ideal place to appreciate the flora and fauna of the Andean ravines. I am happy to offer this half day tour in an area that I know as the palm of my hand!

When we go deep inside the Quebrada Nacimiento we will appreciate immense rock walls, a paradise for alpine climbing lovers. We’ll also visit Monjes de la Pakana, one of the not-so-famous but amazing attractions of San Pedro de Atacama. They’re imposing stone pillars with shapes that resemble the silhouettes of monks.

In addition, we will do a tour around the Salar (saltworks) and Laguna de Tara. The trek will take us between 3 and 5 hours.

As for the recommendations, it will be necessary to have at least a 3-day acclimatization at high altitude. You should also bring 2 liters of water per person, comfortable clothes and trekking shoes. Backpack, sunglasses and hut are key elements as well. The tour includes breakfast and a box lunch.

Finally, it’s very important to mention that we cannot stop walking until we reach the final point of the trail. It is therefore mandatory to be physically trained.

I’m originally from Argentina, but live in Chile since 1998. Now I’m settled in the north of Chile, in San Pedro de Atacama, beautiful town in the heart of the Andean section of the dry Atacama dessert.

From there I organize many expeditions to beautiful peaks on a weekly basis. I’ve done more than 300 high altitude ascents, and more than 25 peaks over 6000 metres.

I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese.

This is an easy assent! I ended up paying $200 for a two hour experience and an apple and piece of chocolate ( lunch 😳) If you plan on doing this hike which I highly recommend, don’t book it with these guys - total rip off!! You can go with a group for about $70 if you book locally from San Pedro! It’s a beautiful view from the summit! It’s not even hard to get there ( they drive you most of the way!) My guide was lovely, great chat, nice person but trust me $200 is a massive massive massive rip off for this ‘experience’

The trip was a great experience with a wonderful view! However, unfortunately the tour description does not fit with the actual tour. There was no breakfast with acclimatisation and the duration was shorter. Most important the tour was not guided by Christian, but by some of his employes which did not speak English so we didn't get much explanations except some fragments that we understood in Spanish. Therefore we were a litlle disappointed concerning the guide of this tour.
