Description

Boundless wild beauty stretches across the rocky US state of Colorado, featuring the national park of Colorado National Monument.

The expansive park is close to the city of Grand Junction, which is sandwiched between the mountainous Continental Divide and the Green River.

Large canyons dig deep into quality sandstone and granite rock formations. High desert terrain lies across the Colorado Plateau, carpeted in forest of juniper and pinyon.

Packed with climbing potential, the National Monument offers excellent routes for moderate and advanced climbers.

Steep vertical cracks offer rewarding challenges on the countless crags that populate the park. These include the Liberty Cap formation, with great views of the valley below, as well as the fascinating geology.

Other areas include Tiara Rado, a large cliff home to a handful of varying climbs and breathtaking views.

And the great sandstone desert towers like Otto’s Route on Independence Monument, offer accessible and easier climbs.

The national park is home to a vibrant bundle of wildlife, including the red-tailed hawk and golden eagle soaring the skies, while the desert bighorn sheep and coyote roam the desert land.

Rock Guide

I have climbed extensively throughout North America since 1997 and have been involved in instructing and guiding climbers since 1999. With notable ascents of famed rock climbs like El Cap and over 250 first ascents in Colorado and Utah, I have made climbing a big part of my life and I'm always eager to share that love with others.

I have been a member of the American Mountain Guides Association since 2003. I am a Certified Rock Guide and Single Pitch Instructor Assistant Provider in addition to successfully completing the Alpine Guide and Ice Instructor Courses.

I guide rock, alpine and ice routes throughout Colorado, Utah and the western United States. Some of my favorite places to guide are the high alpine peaks of the Aspen area, the desert rock climbing areas of Moab and Grand Junction as well as ice climbing in western Colorado.

I am active with the American Safe Climbing Association and have rebolted hundreds of bolts and helped maintain dozens of routes in Colorado and Utah.

During the school year I teach rock and ice climbing, canyoneering and climbing self rescue courses for Colorado Mountain College. I also teach wilderness medicine for Desert Mountain Medicine throughout the year.

Awesome! Mike was fabulous and would recommend him to anyone interested in doing the same. I would say that the process to get a reservation felt like it took a while - would've been nice if there was a FAQs to describe what to expect during the day of the trip. Also, a number to contact for more information rather than just chat would be great. Overall, loved it and would do it again.
