Rock climbing day in Eldorado Canyon, near Boulder, CO

Once a former way station for miners making the trip from Denver into the Rockies, Boulder has become a haven for outdoor adventurers of all types!

Rock climbing is especially popular in and around the city. Eldorado Canyon provides one of the best and most scenic spots around Boulder to practice this fun and exciting outdoor sport.

In order to ensure that we have enough time to get a full day of rock climbing in as well as see some of this beautiful canyon, we will meet up and head out to the canyon first thing in the morning.

Located 15 minutes outside of Boulder, the canyon is composed of hard sandstone and has a plethora of different climbing options. There are single-pitch crags that are perfect for beginners as well as multi-pitches as high as 700 feet (~200 meters).

Complete with large slabs, thin faces, cracks, corners, and big overhangs, there is no shortage of climbing to be done throughout the canyon. Some of the single-pitch crags are right at the entrance, while others require a bit of a hike to get to.

However, this is not a bother as the the views are even more scenic the farther into the canyon that you go.
