Description

Head for the Rockies of Colorado and spend a day climbing the canyons of Rifle Mountain Park! This guided program just outside of Aspen is loaded with fun for everyone, offering more than 400 climbs for athletes of all levels in the stunning elevated paradise of North America’s geological masterpiece!

Rifle Mountain Park is located to the northwest of Aspen, a peaceful outdoor paradise with fishing, hiking, and rock climbing activities. Known for the serene wilderness that surrounds it, the park has plenty of parking with easy access just north of Interstate 70 in the flattop region of Colorado.

The entire area has more than 400 climbs available, suitable for first-timers and grizzled veterans alike. Your program will begin early in the morning to take advantage of a full day in the quiet nature of Rifle Mountain and give you a taste of its accessible yet remote countryside.

Some of the common climbs include Rumor Has It and Do the Mashed Potato (5.7-graded climb), the former having been a popular draw for climbers since the 1980s. The Sno Cone Wall features roughly 20 climbs ranging from 5.6 to 5.12, so you can choose from a wide spectrum of fun and challenging routes. Check out Doctor’s Orders (5.6) and Straight Man (5.9/5.10a) for particularly satisfying climbs. There should be time to enjoy a few runs, as well as an option to hike to the top of Rifle Canyon and rappel down 150 feet from the rim, taking in the breathtaking scenery as you descend.

There are also a number of hikes in the area if you want to parlay your climbing day into a full-on adventure. Rifle Creek also flows into a fish hatchery responsible for 40% of Colorado’s trout population. The area is also home to incredible waterfalls at Rifle Falls State Park and ice caves that stay frozen into early summer.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
