Description

Grab the sandstone of Eldorado Canyon and the Flatirons on a compelling rock climbing program in the Rocky Mountains near Boulder, Colorado! This guided trip is an amazing way to experience one of the iconic climbing destinations in the United States and is perfect for all levels of rock climber!

Situated just south of Boulder along the Continental Divide, Eldorado Canyon – also known fondly as “Eldo” – runs deep between South Boulder Peak and Eldorado Mountain. It has impeccable sandstone that has beckoned grizzled climbers since the 1970s, providing a veritable playground for notorious athletes like Layton Kor, Huntley Ingalls, and Derek Hersey. Cut for centuries by the meandering South Boulder Creek, this is the place to truly experience rock climbing.

This is your chance to become a part of this incredible climbing community by taking on its infamous rock! With outstanding opportunities for trad, sport, top rope, bouldering, and so much more, you can count on a picture perfect rock climbing adventure day after day after day. Beginners and veterans alike can choose from hundreds of captivating and unique routes you just can’t find anywhere else in the world.

Climbing grades at Eldo range from 5.5 all the way to a 5.14 route (Iron Monkey, trad). One of the most well-known lines is the Naked Edge (5.11), a great way to get your adrenaline pumping. Other great routes include Wind Ridge (5.6), Calypso (5.6), and the Yellow Spur (5.9). Advanced climbers can go all out on Scary Canary and Your Mother (both 5.12).

If you had your heart set on some longer ascents, the Flatirons, just a few minutes from downtown Boulder, have you covered. Some multi-pitches reach 1,000 feet, with great vistas of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks. The climbs are a bit easier than Eldorado Canyon, but they are long and sustained – when combined with one another, you have the perfect storm of rock climbing nirvana.

This is a flexible program that can fit your schedule. Check out the 3-day sample itinerary below to give you an idea of what we can accomplish! The views are remarkable, the climbs exciting, and the nature pristine. Eldo has fascinating geology that has helped its development in the climbing community and what we enjoy of it today.

This is one of my favorite places to climb, and I strongly suggest at least three days to enjoy a number of routes and lines at both Eldo and the Flatirons. I can tailor a trip to your needs and abilities, so let me know what you are interested in doing and I can create a program just for you.

Book this life-changing rock climbing program NOW and add your name to the list of mountaineers who have explored the famed sandstone of Eldorado Canyon and the Flatirons a mere 15 minutes from Boulder!

For those who were interested in an iconic climb out of “the Black,” we can try a rock climbing program in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison!

Itinerary

Day 1: Eldorado Canyon

We can begin in Eldorado Canyon and get our feet wet, so to speak, on some short pitches to get used to the rock. Classic routes abound, so you don’t have to fear about missing out on great climbs or lost opportunities.

Day 2: The Flatirons

Our second day allows us to open up a bit at the Flatirons and head up the long pitches there, ranging from 5.4 to 5.7. You can see all the way to Kansas from the exposed geology of this enchanting region.

Day 3: Back to Eldo

Just when you are hitting your stride, we’ll head back to Eldo and climb up its iconic lines. Blending the longer pitches with the savory sandstone, you can feel the immensity of this special climbing spot on classic trad routes.
