Description

Ecuador is in full swing as a rock climbing destination. This is your opportunity to discover the vertical routes of the Towers of Simiatug, in the province of Bolívar. Come to Quito and travel with me to this fabulous region!

Simiatug (“Mouth of the wolf” in the local Kichwa language) is located northwest of the Chimborazo Volcano (6,263m). Populated mostly by indigenous people, it is a region of great anthropological and sociological importance. In addition, in 2015 the Ecuadorian climbing community started developing a group of volcanic towers in the area as a rock climbing spot.

On this 3-day trip, we will meet in Quito and transfer to the Towers of Simiatug (4 hours). These andesite and basalt rock formations rise from 150 to 200 meters, and offer a perfect chance for high altitude climbing! Once there, we will enjoy 2 days of rock climbing.

Furthermore, we will spend one night in a charming mountain hut and another one in tents. We will enjoy amazing views of huge walls and the coastal region of Ecuador surrounded by breathtaking landscapes dominated by the Andes**.**

Please note that this tour requires some rock climbing experience (at least a beginner level), and a good physical condition. In addition, you will need to be acclimatized to the altitude (over 4,000 m.a.s.l.).

So, if you are up for this exciting rock climbing adventure in the Towers of Simiatug, please get in touch with me. Feel the thrill of heading up some stunning vertical walls!

This was a fantastic mountaineering trip to Ecuador. The altitude was a bit of a challenge, but Ramiro did a great job with the acclimatization schedule leading up to the taller mountains. Overall, this was a challenging experience given the altitude of the climbs as well as the back-to-back climbing of four mountains. I would highly recommend this excursion for anyone who wants to experience a fantastic country/culture as well as someone who wants to gain some nice experience mountaineering!

Daniel was kind enough to pick me up promptly at the airport when I arrived. we drove straight to amecameca and bought a few supplies, we then drove to Popo park and set up camp. Daniel gave a class on crampons, walking sticks and the ice pick and then it was time to sleep and prepare for the early morning hike start. we set off around 0330 and reached the recluso at about 15,500 feet. it was an amazing experience with wonderful views. Thank you Daniel, Alejandro and Yasmin!

We wish we could have Simon as our guide on every trek we do. His mountaineering experience and extensive knowledge of the area was impressive and definitely enhanced the trek for us. On top of this, we got along great with Simon and appreciate his easy going personality and sense of humor. We will definitely request Simon as our guide for the next hike we do from El Chalten!

Amazing short but exciting climb to a summit with outstanding views. Perfect acclimatization peak for the bigger Ecuadorian volcanoes, with a cozy hut and a nice approach walk. Fredy was fantastic, thank you so much for this unforgettable experience!
