Description

This half-day rock climbing adventure is open to everyone who would like to try rock climbing, both young and old. More experienced climbers can also enjoy a full-day experience upon request.

We will usually climb 3 to 4 routes graded 3~7a, and as high as 25 ~ 30 meters. We can pick you up at your accommodable or at the parking area near the crag if you’re arriving in your own vehicle. From there, we will spend around 3 hours climbing.

I am a certified local, Slovenian guide from Bled and have extensive guiding experience. Although I am currently based in Japan, in the summer, I travel to my homeland and love to share my passion and experience for outdoor adventures with climbers of all levels.

During the tour we will:

-Challenge your climbing skills on gorgeous natural rock at a fantastic landscape location, above the village of Bohinjska Bela.

-Discover an amazing crag where the impressive 25-meter-high Iglica Waterfall is located, or choose from 7 more crags in the area.

-Learn techniques to climb “top rope”, or lead, abseil, rope maneuvers, and more if you have previous experience.

-Enjoy the instruction and safety of an experienced guide who has been climbing all of his life.

You will also have the chance to experience some adrenaline as you will climb routes on a 25m high cliff, and these routes are suitable for everyone! Plus, all the equipment needed (shoes, harness, helmet) will be provided and is already included in the price of the activity.

Before we begin to climb, we will enjoy a short 5-minute hike to the crag. Then, once there, we will prepare the safety equipment and fix the ropes. You will wear a harness and helmet and we will carry out a safety check first. We will choose the route (3a and up) depending on your experience and fitness level. You’ll climb protected from the ground on a rope fixed to a rock wall high above you. We'll also learn belaying techniques to protect the climbers in your group.

What if there is bad weather?

In case of bad weather, there is always a plan B, which can include climbing on overhanging cliffs protected from the rain or rescheduling the trip for another day. Usually, we don’t expect crowds at the climbing areas, as there are many amazing spots all the way to the natural rock cliffs near Lake Bohinj. Every climbing area is suitable for beginners to advanced climbers.

When can I join a rock climbing tour near Lake Bled?

You can join us every day in the morning from 8:00 am. The best time for outdoor climbing around Bled is from June to the end of October. Prior experience or technical ability is not required. However, rock climbing is not recommended for people with heart issues or pregnant women. If you have any health issues, please inquire before booking.

What if I am an experienced climber and would like to climb on my own?

If you are an experienced climber and would like to climb on your own, you can rent all the necessary equipment such as quickdraws, anchor set, belay devices, harnesses, climbing ropes, helmets and shoes, a backpack, and even a Slovenia rock climbing guide book in different languages with detailed descriptions of more than 90 protected crags in Slovenia.

Rock climbing around Lake Bled is a great way to incorporate a fun activity, enjoy some exciting thrills and also spend time in a beautiful outdoor location. You can enjoy a rock climbing adventure on your own, with your partner, with your family, or with friends. Everyone is welcome! Mountain Guide

I’m an international IFMGA mountain guide; also the first non-Japanese mountain guide certified by the JMGA (Japan Mountain Guide Association); born in Slovenia.

My country is small but well known in the world as strong in sports and mountaineering. I used to compete as Olympic team member and on World Cup competitions as a Cross-country skier. After I left Slovenia and traveled all over the world, I ended up in Japan. I married a beautiful native lady, and have lived here for 30 years. I love Japanese mountains and feel privileged to be able to enjoy these mountains through the entire four seasons.

I’m based at the foot of Japan Alps; convenient place in winter for ski touring from Nagano to Hokkaido, winter mountaineering or ice climbing at Yatsugatake, and of course ascending the symbol of Japan Mt.Fuji.

In summer Japan is a great place for hiking, alpine climbing or popular shower-climbing and some fine sport/free climbing year around.

Since 2013, I’m working on NHK (Japanese national TV) programs, introducing Japan culture and outdoor activities, climbing skiing etc.

It is my absolute pleasure also to take and guide you in my home country, Slovenia. In addition to guide in the mountains, I also enjoy having the opportunity to teach mountain climbing skills to every level of climbers, here in Japan. This is because I wish everybody to be SAFE on the mountains. Please contact me on E&S if you would love to have great experience, as well as a tailor-made plan for other mountains and sport climbing all over SE Asia, EU, South America....in any season!

We personally enjoyed our day out with Cveto - he’s clearly a very knowledgeable person and climber. He set up anchors for us well and gave us a nice intro to lead climbing. However there were some aspects of the day we find detracted from the experience. First, there were hidden costs we were not aware of when we initially booked the activity and paid the up front price. Specifically we were told we needed to pay to rent the rope we used and the quick draws used on the day, which we would have considered to be essential climbing gear (and therefore included in the price). The second issue with the rentals is that we were only told about the rental costs the day before the trip, when we were in Bled and had already paid on Explore Share. Cveto also tried to charge us for helmet hire until we pointed out that they are explicitly listed on the website as included in the main price. Second, there were points when my climbing partner and I were belaying one another and Cveto would wander off. At some points he wandered off to speak to other climbers and at others to people in the area. We had hoped to receive some tips on our climbing and suggestions on form or technique as beginner-intermediate climbers but didn’t receive many. Finally Cveto’s car was in the garage so we had to drive the three of us to the start of the approach. We had no problem with this as we understood the situation with his car but felt that if we were to drive him then charging for kit (which again we felt was essential climbing gear) didn’t make much sense. We’d like to emphasise that Cveto was very experienced and we felt safe and comfortable with him and that overall we really did enjoy our day out, but are sharing these points for other people’s awareness and perhaps for Cveto and co to maybe reconsider some of their policies!
