Trail in the footsteps of the Dents du Midi – TDM
The massif of the Dents du Midi is renowned for the beauty of its landscapes, the imposing presence of its cliffs, hills, valleys, rivers and waterfalls, fauna and flora. The region is also known because of a marathon that has been ran for almost 40 years. This has given the space for the Trail Dents du Midi, one of the best courses in the country.
I invite you to discover its paths by the beat of a hike of two days, going in the same direction along 57 km and approximately 3600m of altitude change.
The tour is intended not only to curious, who would like to discover the course in order to participate in the competition, but also to sporty people who want to engage in a trek at a slightly higher pace than average.
In this tour we are not meant to achieve outstanding performance, nor necessarily a training session, but to enjoy in all serenity an exceptional nature in the mountain.
Running together, but also appreciating the environment that is open to us!
Day 1: Champéry – Mex via Anthème
29 km, 2000m of positive vertical drop
We start in the morning at the center of Champéry in the Val d’Illiez, where runners strike out each year, to quickly climb the winding path joining the magnificent alpine Anthème. The majestic landscape imposes a break already well deserved. The day is not over, but the big climb is already behind us and we still have to enjoy an exceptional view along paths without particular difficulties. After a good descent on Verossaz, one last easy climb will take us to Mex, charming little village perched in the heights of the Rhone Valley.
Day 2: Mex-Champéry via the Jorat pass
29km, 1600m of positive vertical drop
We are in the middle, but the most difficult, the most technical, and mainly the most beautiful are yet to come. The day starts by the big piece of the day: the Jorat pass. The climb is rewarded with an outstanding view on the south of the Massif des Dents du Midi, in front of the Lake Salanfe that we are passing a few minutes before attacking the second climb of the day, shorter but more technical. The last pass of the tour welcomes us and also the rustic Susanfe valley, and the lodge of the same name. But this is where the real descent begins, and you will quickly understand that the hardest part is not necessarily the rise!
So? Are you tempted by the challenge?
The Trail Dents du Midi is not the only one in the region where to run, do not hesitate to contact me, I am happy to let you discover more!
