Description

Trekking around the Paracas National Reserve in Peru is one of the most interesting, fascinating and visually stunning experiences in the country, and I will guide you as we spend the afternoon exploring this vast space of dry and sandy desert, red and yellow volcanic rock, striking lagoons and gorgeous beaches.

Paracas National Reserve is located just South of the Peruvian city of Ica, and is attached to the town of the same name. It is known for its wide variety of flora and fauna, with a range of bird and fish species a particular highlight to see.

Setting off from Paracas town in the afternoon (approximately 1:30pm), we will spend around 3 hours wandering around and admiring the reserve.

Throughout the course of the trek there will be ample time to admire and take in our surroundings, with the Santa Maria Hill, Lagunillas Beach and the Red Beach proving enduringly popular.

After 3 hours we then head back to Paracas town, hopefully having provided you with some memorable sights to remember the National Reserve by.

Itinerary

Day 1: Paracas National Reserve

It is recommended to do this walk after the lunch at 1:30 pm and after the ballestas islands boat tour.In this walk you can appreciate landscapes with an impressive combination of different colors as brown, red, golden yellow, we will see a hill called Santa Maria where you will have a total view of the beach Lagunillas, Then you will go down to a beach called red beach. This beach is the result of volcanic activity after many years. Continuing with our walk we will arrive at a fisherman’s galeta known as Lagunillas, from here we return to our hotel.

I booked the 4 day Inca trail trek with this company. All round it was a pretty great experience. Food on the trip was simply amazing and our guide did everything he could to make our trip comfortable and enjoyable. Our group was 5, smaller than other companies, which was great on the trail. We cannot begin to express our thanks for organizing our trip to Salkantay and Machu Picchu. The trip was perfect. Every transfer and tour went without a problem. The hike was great and we even got perfect sunshine in Machu Picchu. We are extremely tired from our hike to Machu Picchu but were very happy we got the chance to do that rather than HP based on what we heard from others along the way. You not only gave me what I asked for but also what I didn't know to ask for - including a lovely spot for lunch on the Sacred Valley tour and seats on the correct side of the train, when we traveled during daylight. We just returned home from a great holiday in Peru. The team of South America Planet has made this trip a big success. We have done the tour with 4 friends.
