Join me on this 2-day ascent to the summit of Vallunaraju (5685m), a mountain in the heart of the impressive Cordillera Blanca in the Peruvian Andes, close to the city of Huaraz.
Its quick and short access, and a non-technical climb, make Vallunaraju one of the most climbed peaks in Peru. It is also a great mountaineering ascent for acclimatization, if you are planning to climb more demanding and longer ascents in the Andes.
We will meet in the city of Huaraz (3100m), and after breakfast we will head to the Llaca Valley on a private transport, a 2-hour trip approximately. Then we will start climbing to the Moraine Camp (4900m) for about 3 hours, where we will stay overnight.
Next day, we will start climbing to the summit very early, following a tocky trail on the first part, and then climbing the glacier. It will take us about 5 hours to reach the summit of Vallanaraju, where we will enjoy stunning views over the surrounding mountains of the Cordillera Blanca.
Then we will descend to the Moraine Camp and to Huaraz, where our trip finishes. Bear in mind you need to have a short previous acclimatization before climbing Vallanaraju. Also, we will have a little mountaining course before summit day.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to climb Vallunaraju! Just book your place and get ready to join me on this 2-day ascent in the Cordillera Blanca.

I was born at the foot of Huascaran, Peru’s highest peak. I spent my childhood preparing for a career as a mountain guide. I began working as a porter on big expeditions all around the Cordillera Blanca range to earn both money and the necessary experience to begin my accreditation process towards a prestigious UIAGM Certification.
As my training for this, I spent most of my years from my early 20’s in the mountains as an aspirant guide, apprenticing under others and developing my own strength, style, and techniques as a guide.
Having earned the title of UIAGM mountain guide, I have worked on just about every peak in the National Park with groups from around the globe and continues to do so with patience and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
