Passo Falzarego is a 15 km long high mountain pass located in the province of Belluno, in Italy. There, the Tomaselli via ferrata is a fantastic option for a 1-day sustained adventure.
We will be in the heart of the beautiful Dolomite mountains.
The day will start from Passo Falzarego, taking the gondola up to the Lagazuoi hut. The approach is about 30 minutes, descending on the other side of the Lagazuoi mountain, going towards the Fanis Group.
The via ferrata starts on the side of Scotoni hut of the Cima of Fanis south. At the beginning it is easy, following parts of very old trails and tranches of the First Wolrd War. Then it becomes more demanding, as we move to the west face of the mountain. At this point we need to be more careful and make sure to use the proper techniques.
The via ferrata reaches the summit, and then it is possible to descend on the east side. This via ferrata is spectacular. At the beginning it offers views on the west side, looking to Piz Boè, Sassongher and passo Gardena. Afterwards, we we descend on the east side, we get to enjoy amazing and very wild views of the Travenenzes Valley and Fanis group.
