Would you like to discover the breathtaking gardens of Funchal and visit its historical center? Then follow me on this half-day walking tour.

Funchal is the capital town of Madeira Islands, an archipelago close to the northeast coast of Africa which belongs to Portugal. On this opportunity, I invite you to take part in an experience that combines history with stunning natural environments in the town.

The main point of interest of this hiking program will be the lush gardens. Depending on your choice, I suggest you one among the following: Monte Palace, Palheiro Ferreiro, Quinta Splendida or even the Funchal’s Municipal Garden. While exploring them, we’ll have the pleasure to contemplate fossilized trees in one of them, sitting in another one we can talk or just appreciate the quietness and peace of the place.

My main goal is, whatever your choice is, to show you the exotic and diversified species brought during centuries from all different parts of the world.

But at first place, we’ll take a tour across the Town center to contemplate rares constructions from the XV and XVI centuries. During this walk, I’ll share interesting information about its history and culture with you. Also, it is the best opportunity to visit a cellar and taste the very famous Madeira´s wine.

9-14 people: 60€ per person. 15-22 people 50€ per person. The price includes: transportation (except the visit to the Funchal's Municipal Garden), Madeira wine tasting (in working days), a snack with coffee or tea, a short city tour before the visit to a garden.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
