Description

Do you want to explore a breathtaking natural area of Portugal? Then join me for this day trip at Madeira: let’s hike the Vereda do Areeiro to Pico Ruivo!

Madeira is an autonomous archipelago located near the northwest coast of Africa. Its main island is volcanic, green and rugged. With a warm subtropical climate and a terrain dominated by impressive cliffs and beautiful beaches, this region is a fabulous destination for adventure trips.

On this day hiking outing we will connect two of the highest peaks of Madeira: Pico do Areeiro (1817 m) and  Pico Ruivo (1862 m). This trail is known as Vereda do Areeiro and involves steep ascents and descents. Our ending point is Achada do Teixeira.

The landscapes are really amazing: we will enjoy panoramic views of the central mountainous mass of Madeira’s main island. Furthermore, we will cross stunning tunnels and learn about the varied local flora.

Keep in mind that you don’t need previous hiking experience. However, we will walk a total distance of 8km, so I recommend a good fitness level.

So, if you are ready for this unforgettable hiking tour in Madeira, please contact me. Come to this unique archipelago and experience the Vereda do Areeiro route!

I also offer other hiking trips in Madeira. Take a look, for example, at my Rabacal, Fanal program.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
