This exciting Algarve family adventure is designed for everyone to have an amazing time. Both children and adults will enjoy a fun program that combines the gorgeous Algarve landscapes and views, with upbeat and high-paced -but safe- activities, and the delicious goodies that Portugal is famous for.

The program lasts 8 days, with one free day, in which you can choose from a variety of activities or do your own thing. You can find an outline of the itinerary we will follow below.

### Some of the scheduled fun includes:

**Sea kayaking:** from the river estuary to the sea, and then some playtime after a picnic before returning for a slice of cake.

**Adventure walk:** either to a beach for a nice swim or to a big lake where we can have lunch before walking back. 

**Bodyboarding:** a great way to understand waves, and a fun way to spend the afternoon for all ages.

**Surfing:**  learn to surf, play beach games, and enjoy the Algarve sun.

**Climbing:** on this introduction to climbing, we will learn some basic skills such as using gear and tying knots. We will then put these skills to practice before heading to Sagres to taste some of the best ice creams in Portugal.

**Coastal bike trip:** this fun bike ride will take us across rivers,  through forests, and to a little coastal village for an ice cream break and a swim. Option: Transfer or ride back.

**T-Shirt Painting:** whether you need a break from the sun or a rainy day option this is a really enjoyable family activity that complements perfectly with the overall adventure. 

### On your free day, you can choose between:  

**Archery**

**Boat trip:** this half-day adventure to the southwest tip of Europe is sometimes a great way to catch sight of dolphins. 

**Farm experience:** actively collecting eggs, picking fruit, and possibly planting trees. 

Night walk: a great introduction to stargazing. 

Swimming in the lake: where you can also kayak, try a zip-line, or just spend some time on the deck.

**Cabo San Vicente excursion: to watch the sunset.**

**Field games**

**For this trip, the suggested age is between 6 to 75, however, we are flexible. Let us know if there are other ages in your group. Additionally, group sizes are usually between four to sixteen people. The tours are designed for everyone to enjoy and parents to relax as well.**

Algarve Family Adventure in Portugal

On this 1-week Algarve trails hiking week, we will take you to explore the best of this gorgeous region in Portugal. Every day, we will set off to discover the wonders of Algarve, while also enjoying some leisure and rest, as well as the excellent local cuisine.

The tour starts from Faro and includes exploring Cape St Vincent National Park,  hiking along dramatic cliffs with refreshing dips in the sea along the way, sighting beautiful flora and fauna, tasting delicious fresh seafood, and staying in a comfy eco-lodge accommodation.

The hikes will take place in the areas of Sagres, Vila do Bispo, Budens, Carrapateira, Lagos and Aljezur. We will spend an average of five hours walking per day, and will also have the chance to enjoy other activities in the area. Additionally, there is one free day scheduled in the program for you to have some flexibility too. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Airport shuttle from Faro to the Eco lodge.

Light buffet lunch, followed by a short circular walk of the local area.

Free time: take a fresh dip in the Atlantic or stop by the beach bar.

Dinner.

Arrival

The first walk is an introduction walk, where we get to sample the terrain and meet the other walkers. It starts at the lodge and climbs out of the valley, slowly gaining views of the surrounding hills.

In spring, you will enjoy the white and pink flowering Sistus.

It won’t be long until we reach a high point and catch sight of the Atlantic ocean in the distance. The track will slowly wind its way towards the coast passing through pine forests and cow meadows.

Then, we will turn down through a eucalyptus forest until the valley opens up to a beautiful long white beach, where we will stop for lunch and a dip in the wild 0cean.

After lunch, we will climb from the beach onto the sea cliffs and then continue towards Carrapateira, a small coastal fishing town, for a welcome refreshment.

You will have a chance to explore before returning to the lodge for an African bush shower or a drink on the deck.

After dinner, we will walk to the hamlet of Pedralva for a drink and some exploration.

Walk gradient: mainly flat, very few small hills

Difficulty: Easy

Average walk duration: 4 – 4.5 hours

Transfer: 5-10 minutes

Warm up- Carrapateira-Pedralva

The walk begins at Zavial, famous among surfers. We will climb from the beach onto the sea cliffs. The south coast is far less rugged than the west coast. Calm turquoise seas, colored flowers, and the occasional white fishing village, gives it a Greek feel.

The path follows the coastline, leading up onto the eroded sea cliffs or ambling down onto the sandy white beaches which are dotted with large rock formations.

We suggest you bring a bathing suit to enjoy a few dips in the sea.

We will enjoy lunch in a hidden cove with a light offshore wind.

After lunch and exploring an impressive sea cliff fortress, we will continue walking  inland Figuera, a sleepy Portuguese village, where we can stop for a refreshment.

We will then leave Figuera via a small  road that will take us through Portuguese farmland. The trail then winds its way back to Zavial beach following inland paths and tracks with amazingviews of the historic Cabo St Vincente. We will go through an artesian Portuguese pottery shop on our way back to the lodge.

Evening cheese and wine tasting before dinner.

Difficulty:  medium

Average walk duration: 5 – 5.5 hours

Transfer: 15 to 20 minutes

South Coast

The fourth walk begins at the lodge, the route runs parallel to the river, often crossing it, flanked by a landscape of hills, part of the unspoilt nature reserve of Cabo St Vicente.

The trail passes through Vilarinha, a hamlet lost in time, surrounded by a landscape sculpted by stooped Portuguese farmers, quaint white houses, and rolling cow meadows.

From there, the trail will take us uphill toward the summit. With a view of the valley behind and the ocean ahead,  we will take the zigzagging path down the hill to the village below,  where we will stop for lunch in an authentic Portuguese Bistro\\cafe.

Crossing the village after lunch, the route will lead us through large sand dunes and then we will  walk across a long beach with the option of a quick swim.

Below, huge sand dunes and fishermen looking for oysters will dot the view. The route ends just off the beach at a local cafe with freshly made juices and other refreshments.

We will enjoy an early diner and then head to Sagres, Cabo St Vincente, to watch the sunset on the most south western point of Europe.

Cabo St Vicente wilderness trail

The walk begins at Ingrina, a small south-coast hamlet.  From there, we will follow a trail that runs next to windswept cliff tops and long stretches of white beaches on the path to Sagres.

Sagres is the most south-western point of Europe. Famous explorers, such as Christopher Columbus, considered it “the end of world”, the place where they launched their expeditions.

A strong culture and history are present in Sagres, which boasts a fortress, an ancient monastery, and menhirs.

We will end our walk at ‘Alice’s’, the best gelateria, for a taste of delicious homemade ice cream made from only natural ingredients.

Options afterward include exploring the town or heading down to one of the town’s beaches and enjoying the sea and warm sun.

Walk gradient: mostly flat.

Difficulty: Easy to Medium.

Average walk duration 4.5 hours.

Transfer: 15 minutes

Sagres

Free day.   Options include visiting Lagos, exploring independently or choosing an activity, which can be:

*   Kayaking in a beautiful river estuary
    
*   Learning to climb
    
*   Surfing
    
*    Exploring Lagos
    

We will drop you off at Lagos after breakfast and collect you at 4 pm.

A day trip activity costs 45 euros pp, and includes transfer, guide, and equipment.

Lunch at a seafood restaurant in Lagos or after paddling enjoy a local seafood meal with spectacular views.

In the evening, dinner is at an authentic Portuguese restaurant in Pedralva.

On the last day of the tour, we will enjoy some of the most impressive scenery on the Portuguese coast. Hidden white coves, meandering fisherman’s trails through an unspoiled natural coastal scenery. Crashing Atlantic waves against black cliffs will be part of the day’s scenery.

We will set off from  Villa do Bispo village, at the beach of Castellejo.  We will follow sea cliffs and beaches for several kilometres before turning inland for a short while until we stop for lunch, on a completely hidden beach only accessible by foot.

We can enjoy some swimming or body surfing in the bay, or just sit in the shadow of the cliffs.

Then, after crossing a series of four coastal valleys, the strenuous walking will gift you the most impressive views of the tour.  
We will finish at Amado beach where we can stop at a cafe and have the chance to relax.

In the evening a seafood dinner is hosted at the lodge.

West Coast

End of the adventure for this time. Breakfast, shuttle to Airport and fly home.

This sport climbing course for beginners in **Sagres**, in the beautiful region of Algarve in southern Portugal, is perfect for those looking to venture themselves into **rock climbing for the first time**. It is also ideal for climbers looking to make the transition **from indoor to outdoor climbing.**

The Algarve is Portugal’s premier tourist destination, boasting **sunny weather, great beaches** and surfing options. Sagres, located on the southwest tip of Portugal, offers **hundreds of routes and cliffs** along the coast.

We will be climbing on the **superb rock of the Cape St.Vincent area in Sagres.** Every day, after breakfast at 8.30 we wil have an hour of rope practice at the lodge. Then we will take you to the climbing venue, trying to make the most out of daylight hours for climbing. We will provide you with a packed lunch and guide you all along the routes.

Our goal is to **provide you with the basic skills and knowledge** you need to confidently climb on different routes. The course will cover the following topics:

*   Use of ropes, belay devices and quickdraws
    
*   Basic equipment use and maintenance
    
*   Belaying, from bottom, top
    
*   Safety and rescue.
    
*   Top rope climbing
    
*   Lead belaying
    
*   Tying off anchors

We usually finish the climbing day at about 3-5 o’clock. Then we will have time to enjoy the evening in this beautiful region in Portugal.We can have a drink in the village or at our lodge, going over the climbing day, analysing your progress, suggesting improvements and planning the itinerary for the following day. We often play climbing videos after dinner to learn more about types of climbing and skills.

Situated on the southwestern-most tip of Portugal, Cape St Vincent offers some of the best rock climbing available on Portugal’s Algarve.

After meeting up at a pre-determined location, we will head out and spend two hours climbing.

Depending on your abilities and preferences, we will pick the perfect climbing itinerary to practice your existing skills and learn new ones as well.

After a pause for lunch, we will head back out onto the rocks for another hour.

Among the top climbing spots for visitors to the cape is the Praia do Beliche, Bensafrim is our local beginners crag, it's facing north so always shady, with easy to intermediate climbs.
