### **Climb one of the two 6,000-meter summits in 6 days. An unforgettable mountaineering trip in the Bolivian Andes.** 

The **Chachacomani** is a 6074-meter-high summit and one of the highest snow-capped peaks in the Andes. Together with the **Chearoko** (6150 m), they form a massif which lies between **Illampu-Ancohuma** and **Condoriri**.

With some snow terrains and deep mountain cracks, its landscape offers a circular barrier around the Chachacomani. That is why the access to these mountains is a bit technical. In fact, they are literally hidden in the heart of the massif.

In addition to have some prior climbing experience it is also mandatory to have a good fitness level. Please keep in mind that, **although you will choose one peak to climb** both involve a physically demanding ascent.

At the bottom of this page you will find a sample itinerary with the two options. Regardless the summit you choose, the total expedition will take 6 days.

Departure from La Paz by exclusive vehicle to the village of San Juan de Chachacomani (4000 meters above sea level). Then we will ascend to the base camp (4,700 m) with the help of mules. Total activity of the day: 9 hours. Overnight camping.

Rest day at the base camp. This day the guide will look into the glacier conditions for the following day. Overnight camping.

**DAY 1 OF CHEAROKO ASCENT**

Ascent to the high camp (5100 m) with the help of porters. It will take 7 hours. Overnight camping.

Option I: Chearoko

**DAY 2 OF CHEAROKO ASCENT**

Climb to the summit of Mt. Chearoko (6,150 meters high) and descent back to the high camp. Round trip: 12 hours.

A long hike up to the Mt. Chachacomani’s high camp (5,500 m), where we’ll spend the night.

Climb the summit of Mt. Chachacomani (6350 m) and descent down to the high camp, where we’ll sleep.

### **It’s my pleasure to invite you to the impressive** Condoriri Massif**, over 5000 meters. A 5-day trip perfect for beginner mountaineers!** 

The **Condoriri Massif** is a marvelous group of Bolivian mountains, forming a circle of colors and beauty and containing the freshest natural water reservoirs in the area.

This adventure through the Condoriri Massif is an ideal program for people with little hiking experience. It also works perfectly as an **acclimatization trek** before a bigger goal in the Bolivian Andes. 

During this 5-day trekking expedition we will visit the famous **Condoriri National Park** as well as many other interesting points. We’ll reach the **Chiarkhota Lagoon** at 4600 meters and the **Tuni Condoriri Lagoon**, at 4220 meters.

Departure by vehicle to Tuni Condoriri Lagoon (4220 m). From there we will move to the Chiarkhota lagoon (4600 m) with the help of mules. The trek to the base camp will take us about 2:30 hours. Overnight at the campsite.

Ascent to Austria Peak (5343 m). It is a climb with no technical difficulty (4 hours). After summit it, we will return to base camp (2:30 hours). We’ll spend the night in the camping site.

Ascent of Mt Ilusión (5350 m) without difficulty. The climb will take 4 hours. After achievement such a goal we’ll return down to base camp (3 hours). Overnight at the camping site.

Climb to Mt. Alpamayo Chico (5400 m). The first 4 hours involve an easy climb. Then, we must follow the west edge face which is more difficult and will take 2:30 more hours. After enjoying in the top of the mountain we will descend to the base camp (11 hours round trip), where we’ll spend the night.

Descent to the car parking lot with the help of mules for about 2 hours. We’ll return to La Paz by vehicle (3 hours). Finally, you will arrive at your hotel where this program ends.

### **The colossal** Huayna Potosí**, at 6088 meters above sea level, is one of the most beautiful mountains of the Bolivian Andes. Let me take you there!**

Its name “**Huayna Potosí**” comes from the Quechua language and means “Young Potosí”. The first people who climb this mountain were Dienst and Schulze, two Germans in 1919.

Climbing the Huayna Potosí involves an intermediate technical knowledge. It is an ideal adventure for **climbers with some previous experience** in the mountains. However, we will follow its normal route which is the easiest way to reach the summit.

Although the ascent will also **require some physical effort** I can guarantee the reward is priceless. Once at the summit of the Huayna Potosí you will enjoy a magnificent panorama of **the** **famous Titikaka Lake**. You will also have the possibility to admire the Cordillera Real and the immense city of La Paz from this high balcony.

We will drive from La Paz for 2 hours to the Zongo lagoon (4700 m), our base camp. In the afternoon  you’ll have the option to go up to the glacier for a training and return to base camp.

Ascent to the high camp (5135 m) for about 2:30 hours with porters support. Overnight at high camp.

We must start the ascent at 2 AM. Good equipment will be needed. The climb will take us 6-7 hours with some hard sections. The last part before the summit requires the attention, knowledge and balance of each climber. Return to the base camp at 4700 m. Finally, a vehicle will take us back to La Paz. Arrival to your hotel, where this program ends.

### **Welcome to a challenging experience, perfect for climbers with considerable experience!**

Located in the north of the Cordillera Real, there is the 6490-meter-high **Jankhouma Mountain (or Ancohuma)**. Its name comes from the Aymara language and means “crystalline water”. This is the highest mountain of the massif and it is surrounded by the most stunning large glaciers. Furthermore, from its top you will see a really amazing panoramic view of the Bolivian Andes.

The first people to reach the **Jankhouma's summit** were Rud Dienst and Adolf Schulze, leaders of a German expedition in 1919. **Now it's your turn!** I will guide you through its north face route. It includes **ice slopes of 45-50 degrees** of inclination. Finally, we will reach the great crest that leads to the top. **Undoubtedly it will be the trip of a lifetime!**

Departure from La Paz and trip by vehicle to Sorata (2700 m). It will be a 4-hour ride. After lunch we will visit the San Pedro caves. Overnight hotel.

Long hiking day (7-8 hour hike) to approach the intermediate camp at 4600 m. Some mules will help us. Overnight camping.

Intermediate Camp

We will continue to the base camp (5100 m) with the assistance of porters. It will be a half-day climb to the base camp. Overnight camping.

Base Camp

Ascent to the high camp (5600 m) located on the glacier. It will take 5 hours to get there. Overnight camping.

High Camp

Climb to the summit of Mt. Jancohuma (6490 m). We’ll do it by the north face with ice slopes of 45-50 degrees. After enjoying the huge mountain range we will descent back to the base camp (round trip: more than 12 hours). Overnight camping.

Summit day

Descent to the base camp. Rest afternoon. We’ll spend the night in the camping site.

Back and descend to the Sorata village. Overnight hotel.

Back to Sorata

Return journey to La Paz with private transport for four hours. Arrival at your hotel, where this program ends.

The **Mount Illampu**, also known as Mount Sorata is a beautiful mountain of the Bolivian Andes, which together with the Ancohuma form a single massif.

This group of mountains in the **Cordillera Real** has several important peaks. However, I have no doubts that the main summit is the Illampu, at 6369 meters of height. We will reach the top of that mountain by its normal route, which is **technically difficult**. This route also has some ice slopes up to 65 degrees. We'll reach the summit by a high camp located on the north side of the massif.

Mountaineers from all around the world consider it as the most difficult over-6000-meter-high mountain to climb in Bolivia. So, if you want to join me on this adventure you must be an **intermediate-advanced climber**. An **excellent fitness level** is also mandatory.

Departure from La Paz by an exclusive vehicle to Sorata (2700 m). After having lunch, we will drive from Sorata going up until we are in Chu-Chu (4600 m). Finally, to the Ancohuma village (4040 m), where we’ll spend the night.

Ascent to the “Aguas Calientes” base camp, at 4600 meters, after walking for 4 hours with the help of porters. Overnight camping.

Rest day at the base camp or we can also carry the equipment to high camp and back. Overnight camping.

Ascent to the 5600-meter camp, above a broken glacial. We’ll set up camp there for the night.

Ascent to Mt. Illampu’s summit. The ascent through the normal route will take 8-9 hours of hard climbing. Then we will return down to the high camp. The round trip takes about 14 hours! Overnight camping.

Descent to the base camp “Aguas Calientes”. Afternoon resting and relaxing in the camping site. Overnight stay there.

Descent with the assistance of mules to the village of Ancohuma. Back to Sorata by 4×4 vehicles (2:30-hour drive). Overnight hotel.

Back to La Paz, drive about 4 hours and accommodation at your hotel.

### **Enjoy the stunning Bolivian Andes from above with this 4-day climb to the summit of** Mount Illimani**.**

**Mount Illimani** is a really beautiful mountain, 72 km from La Paz. Undoubtedly, it is one of the greatest snow–covered peaks on earth. Its first ascension was achieved by William Conway and Maquigmaz Gef, leaders of an Italian-English expedition.

The mountain has five peaks. All of them with different heights and difficulty levels:

*   _The southern peak (6462 m),_
    
*   _The central peak (6360 m),_
    
*   _Northern or Paris peak (6043 m),_
    
*   _The Indian peak (6287 m),_
    
*   _And the Laika Khollu peak (6159 m)._
    

The idea for this 4-day program is to **guide you through the Mount Illimani's southern peak**. Although it is the highest peak, its ascent involves a medium difficulty. In addition, on the way we must cope with some ice and rocks terrain. In order to reach the summit on time, we will begin the adventure at 3 AM, arriving at the top of the mountain 8 or 9 hours later. Once up there, you won't believe such a magnificent panoramic view!

Departure from La Paz by 4×4 or bus for about 3 hours towards the village of Una and Pinaya (3800 m). That’s where the ascent starts, with the help of mules and porters. We’ll reach the “Puente Roto” base camp, at 4500 meters (3-hour trek). Overnight camping.

Ascent to the high camp “Nido de Cóndores” (5500 m). It is a hard rock climbing route so we will need more assistance of the high altitude porters. The total hike will take 6 hours. Overnight camping.

Climb Mount Illimani by its south peak (6462 meters). It’s a medium difficult ascent. The total ascent will take us around 6 hours. At the top it offers a magnificent panoramic view around the Illimani. Finally, we will return down to high camp and base camp (12 hours in total). Overnight camping.

Descent for 2 hours to the Pinaya village walking down with the help of porters. From there we will be transferred to La Paz (3-hour ride). Arrival at your hotel and end of this amazing program.

### **I would like to propose you a new and different way to visit the** Bolivian Andes**.**

Come climb the **Sajama and Parinacota volcanoes** in this 7-day mountain adventure! As you may know the Sajama Volcano is one of the most amazing snowy peaks on earth. It is formed by 5 summits. The highest one is the **southern peak with 6548 meters** of altitude.

But the Andes mountain range has many other stunning summits to conquer. This time we will combine the Sajama's south peak with the Parinacota volcano (6342 meters). The Parinacota is one of the two volcanoes of the **Payachatas**. These mountains lies on the **Bolivia-Chile border**, inside the famous Sajama National Park.

While the first ascent (Sajama) involves an intermediate technical difficulty, the second one is an easier climb. However, this program is aim to **climbers with some prior experience**. That way we can make best use of the itinerary in a safe way.

Arrival to the Parinakhota volcano base camp, at 5100 meters above sea level. Overnight in a lodge.

Beginning of Stage I: Parinacota Volcano

Ascent to the Parinakhota volcano. During the ascent there is no technical difficulty. You will only need a good fitness level. The climb will take 6-7 hours. The return is shorter. After enjoying the landscapes of the Sajama and the Lauca national Parks of Bolivia and Chile, we will have a 3-hour descent to the parking lot so we are transferred to the hot springs for a relaxing bath. Overnight in a lodge.

Ascent to the Sajama base camp (4700 m) with the help of porters. Overnight camping.

Beginning of Stage II: Sajama Volcano

Ascent to the high camp (5500 m) with assistance of the high altitude porters. Overnight camping.

Ascent to the summit of the Sajama Volcano (6548 m) and return to the high camp. Overnight camping.

Descend to the village of Sajama and return to La Paz. Arrival to your hotel, where this amazing program ends.
