Hi! My name is Fabien Artero, I have been a mountain leader since 2008 and mountain guide since 2014. I discovered my passion for the mountains by spending time during my youth at the Valle Argentina in Italy, in the Ligurian Alps.

I slowly discovered activities that allowed me to travel the valley along the seasons...

The mountain is a large playground. We have to play according to its mood, mountain conditions, weather and finally choose the itinerary... Which renders these activities complex and exciting.

These activities allow us to discover the valleys, massifs, the countries and people living in them. Altogether is makes for an enriching mixture from any point of view.

I wanted this to become my profession because, of the mountains, human contact and the practice of exciting activities.

With its back to the Mediterranean Sea, the **Mercantour National Park** is an experience in itself. Take a deep breath and take in all of the area’s natural beauty while you push your body to take one more step up!

I regard mountaineering as the most complete discipline, as it includes several different activities (hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing, etc.). Here in the Mercantour, you’ll see no glaciers or crevices, but the environment is that of the high mountain. With the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop and the Alps opening up before you, it will be an unforgettable sight!

For this mountaineering tour, I propose several 1-day tour options you can choose from. You can climb **La Cougourde** (2921 meters), a big Mercantour classic, or opt to hike to the top of **Corno Stella** by the Cessole route (3050 meters). Another option is to go for the **Mont Ponset** summit (2828 meters), where you’ll enjoy stunning 360° views from the top!

These are just a few examples of the routes we could take on our day together, but **there are different options for all levels!** If you have a particular route in mind, don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll try to accommodate your wishes.

1-day mountaineering tour in the Mercantour

Join me on this 2-day ascent to the **Mount Viso** summit and enjoy everything this Italian wonderland has to offer.

With its very characteristic shape, this 3841-meter mountain is an emblem of the Italian valley of Po and a great classic among climbers. Its magnificent flora and fauna also make it a favorite among hikers.

We'll find ourselves surrounded by beautiful wild flowers and, if we are lucky, we might even see some animals on the way up. Marmot sightings are fairly common.

This time around, we'll climb the Mount Viso peak by its **eastern edge**. This route is longer than the normal route but doesn't present any technical difficulties. Lastly, on the way down, we'll use the normal route.

The ascent requires a very good physical condition and some climbing experience. We'll spend the night at the friendly **Quintino Sella mountain hut.** There, we'll renew our energy for the ascent on the second day.

2-day ascent to Mount Viso summit

**Calling all great skiers to the slopes of Norway!** Join me on this **8 day ski tour** in the **Senja Island.**

The **Senja Island**, located on the **southwest region of Tromso**, is extremely picturesque, given that its mountains face the **oceans and fjords, which are illuminated by the lights of the town.** On the island, there are a variety of slopes that are perfect for skiing, and you will get to choose which you would like to explore once we arrive.

We begin our trip by meeting in **Tromso**, and from there **transportation will be provided** to Senja. This car ride will be short, but once we arrive we will settle into our **accommodation** in a lodge before the next few days of skiing. Over the course of the **6 days** that follow we will use the **lodge** as a base, which will allow you to ski in the nearby mountains with ease. The nearby mountains such as **Col de Grovla, Keipen and Roalden** begin at **1,000 meters above sea level**, and are suited for prime skiing. After enjoying our final ski, we will again be transported back to **Tromso,** where we will enjoy a final night in a **hotel** before the trip ends the following day.

This trip is intended for **intermediate to advanced level skiers** who have a lot of previous experience. And as your guide, I will be happy to help you with any tricks or tips to improve your skills.

After arriving in **Tromso** we will take a 3 and a half hour car ride to **Senja.** Once there, we will enjoy our night in our **lodge accommodation.**

Day 1: Tromso-Senja

We will use various lodges as a base in order to ski in the surrounding mountains. Here, we will find many incredible mountains to ski such as **Col de Grovla, Keipen,**  
**Roalden,** to name a few.

Day 2-6: Skiing in Senja

After our last day of skiing, we will return to **Tromso.** We will spend our final night in a **hotel.**

Day 7: Ski day in Tromso

Day 8: Return

8 day guided ski touring trip in Senja, Norway

**The Blanc glacier is the largest glacier in the Ecrins massif. The glacier begins at the Barre des Ecrins and ends 2300 meters below.** It is a way of access to many well known summits in the area. In fact, I propose here to explore one (or more!) of them.

There are many easy summits around the Blanc glacier, but also at some wild valleys. Some of the possible ascents (although there are many others) are:

**– The Roche Faurio (3730m)** is a beautiful initiation program. Besides, the views over the Barre des Ecrins are marvellous. I can guide up to 3 people there.

**– The Agneaux (3664m)** is an easy but varied route, combining glacier and rock climbing. The maximum clients for this trip is 2.

**– The Dôme de Monêtier (3478m)** is indeed a magnificent glaciar ascent, and I can take up to 4 people.

**–** Finally, the **Pelvoux Traverse (3943m)** is a beautiful program on an emblematic summit of the massif. I can guide up to 2 people up there.

Please note that if you have never used crampons, it's possible to do an ice school before. In this way you will be ready to tackle the ascents.

Climb one of the most mythical peaks in the Alps with this 2-day expedition to the Argentera summit (3297 meters)!

Located in the **Piedmont region** in northern Italy, Monte Argentera is the highest peak in the Maritime Alps. It has been a classic among climbers for many years, with old routes opened by pioneers and more modern, recently opened routes. You'll find plenty to have fun with!

The Italian **Argentera Natural Park** meets the French **Mercantour National Park** at the border within these two countries. The Argentera summit, with its solid rock peak, rises above surrounding mountains and also glaciers, lakes and forests. Stunning views abound!

During day 1, we'll climb the **Corno Stella** route (3050 meters) and spend the night at the **Bozano mountain hut**. But don't forget dinner: we'll get to enjoy delicious Italian food and wine while up in the hut!

Finally, on day 2, we'll travel the **Eperon Campia** route, a beautiful way up to the Argentera summit. We'll reach the final goal of our expedition by the end of the day. Once at the top, the incredible scenery will pay off the efforts along the way.

I can take a maximum of two climbers on this expedition. Take into account that you need to be in a very good physical condition and have some some climbing experience.

**Join me for a wonderful ski touring trip in the high valleys of the Mercantour National Park.**

This is a 5-day ski trip, which takes place between the Vésubie and the high valleys of Argentera, on the Italian side.

We start from the Boréon village at the end of the road and we head to **Mont Clapier** (3045 m). Then, we go to **Mont Gelas** (3148 m), right on the border between France and Italy.

Near the Gulf of Genoa, snow is often abundant in winter. Besides, days are usually sunny.

Inside the national park, the atmosphere is wild and the best places are rarely visited. But don’t worry: wolfs are away from these territories.

This is a beautiful ski tour, far away from the popular ski trails. In addition, it offers some amazing views of the French and Italian borders!

We can adapt this program depending on the time you have and your wishes. It may also change due to weather or snow conditions at the moment of the trip.

**The Mercantour National Park is in a unique setting: in the Alps, neighbouring the Mediterranean Sea.** The beauty of the area is truly worth a visit. And even better, an immersion into this magic environment.

Therefore, I propose to spend three days in the **Arêtes du Mercantour**. Indeed, I planned a mountaineering program to enjoy the surroundings while learning about this discipline.

We will climb the summits around the Madone de Fenestre during three days. The Madone de Fenestre (1904m) is a sanctuary. We will sleep and eat at the cozy Madone mountain hut, which is the starting point of many hikes in the area.

– belay on spikes  
– move together  
– descend belaying
