Gudauri ski resort is the main ski resort of Georgia and is situated on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains at an altitude of 2,000m. About 2 hours from Tbilisi international airport, Guadauri sits in the centre of a spectacular landscape offering expansive snow fields, alpine forest and abundant sunshine.

On your first day you will arrive to Tbilisi International Airport where you will collected and transferred to the hotel 110km away, about a 2 hour minibus ride. The second to seventh days you will be out off-piste skiing and ski touring around Gudauri. There will be 1-2 hours maximum of skinning from the station ski lifts to access points of our descents.

Each day I will decide the programme depending on the weather, snow conditions and fitness level of the group members. On the eighth day you will be transferred in the morning to Tbilisi city where dinner will be provided along with accommodation in a hotel in the old centre of Tbilisi. On the ninth day you will be taken to the airport in time for your flight to your final destination.

From Gudauri there are ski lifts to the summit of 3300m and there are fantastic views of nearby Mt Kazbek which peaks at 5033m. This resort has many great possibilities for off-piste skiing and ski trekking using a combination of ski lifts and skins.

A wonderful aspect to this location is the fact that the locals almost never go off-piste or ski-touring which means the terrain offers vast areas of virgin snow and unrestricted tracks.

Additionally, depending on the weather and snow conditions, we can take a minibus to other parts of the valleys and discover typical villages that have managed to preserve their traditional cultures. We can also find here new opportunities for ski touring or heli-skiing.

The **Tobavarchkhili Lakes**, which translate to “silver lakes” from old Megrelian (one of the regions of Georgia), are one of the country’s most beautiful destinations. This 9-day trekking trip in the **Egrisi Mountain Range**, the mountainous Samegrelo region, is a great opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy impressive views.

Fascinating lakes are hidden at 2500-2650 meters high. During the tour, you will see spectacular leafy forests, alpine meadows, breathtaking waterfalls, lakes and caves. You will also get to know the traditional life of **nomadic shepherds** and encounter rare wildlife.

Transfer from the airport;  
Overnight – hotel

After breakfast, we will depart for the village Mukhuri (by minivan or minibus). On the way, we will stop by one of the most visited places in Georgia – Gochkadili (Martvili) canyon.  
After dinner, we will drive from village Mukhuri to the camping area by truck (due to poor road conditions, it takes 3-4 hours to cover 34km section of the road). On the road we will visit Shurubumu cave, Gunji waterfall and stunning gorge of Kobistskali River. In the evening we will meet local horse-breeders, set up a tent, set fire, have dinner and relax.

Village Mukhuri 

After breakfast, we will take the path to small Tobavarchkhili Lake (without luggage). On the way, we will see the most beautiful panoramic views – mixed forests, alpine and sub-alpine meadows and amazing snow-capped passes. On the way, we will stop to have a snack. The camp will be set up near the small Tobavarchkhili Lake, where travelers can swim, explore and enjoy the spectacular views of the lake surroundings. In the evening we will have a dinner and a well-deserved rest.

Tobavarchkhili Lake

After breakfast, we will take the path to big Tobavarchkhili Lake (without luggage). On the way we will see picturesque rocky massif and pass, which connects small and big Tobavarchkhili Lakes. The camp will be set up close to big Tobavarchkhili Lake, where we will have a dinner, explore surroundings of the lake and watch the charming sunset. In the evening we will have a dinner and needed relaxation.

Tobavarchkhili Lakes

This day will be dedicated to the full exploration of Tobavarchkhili environs. We will visit and enjoy astonishing views of Didghele, Kaliashi and Tsakatskali lakes. From this place, we can see widely renowned Svaneti Mountains, as well Europe’s highest peak – Elbrus. Rock climbing enthusiasts can climb Mount Chitagvala – 3225 m (B-2 level of difficulty). In the afternoon we will return to the camp, where we will have dinner and have free time to relax and have fun before dinner.

Tobavarchkhili environs

After breakfast, we will descend to the local nomadic shepherds’ dwellings. On the way, we will explore fascinating waterfall of Toba. In the afternoon local shepherds will host us with ecologically clean diary and extremely delicious Megrelian dishes – elarji, gebzhalia, ghomi with sulguni cheese.

Local nomadic shepherds’ dwellings

After breakfast, we will head to summer pastures, called “Kirnakhona”. From here we can witness incredibly beautiful lowland of ancient and legendary Colchis. Here, we will have a lunch and later we will descend to the village Skuri by truck, where we meet the minivan and drive to Kutaisi.

Upper Svaneti

Ughviri pass

After breakfast we will go along the path towards village Iprali. We have to cross the river and use horses for that. On the way, we will see and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of Adishi glacier and surroundings. We will meet a minivan in the village Iprali, which will transfer us to the Ushguli community. We will dine; rest and overnight in Ushguli.

11-day hiking tour in Upper Svaneti region

Join me on this 4-day ascent and reach the summit of **Mount Kazbek (5047m)**, one of the most beautiful and remarkable mountains in the **Caucasus range.** The mountain is known locally as Mkhinvari.

Located near near the city of Stepantsminda in Georgia, near the border with Russia, Kazbek is a great mountaineering experience and a popular climb. Although it is **not a technically difficult ascen**t, and it offers a convenient access, it is quite **physically challenging**, due to the high altitude.

On the first day, we will meet in **Tbilisi, the capital city**, and travel 157 km to **Stepantsminda (1740m),** a mountain village in north-eastern Georgia. From there we will hike for six hours to the meterological station (3700m) where we will set our camp.

The second day will be dedicated to **relax and acclimatization to local climate conditions** and we will hike to the Betlemi Church (3900m). The next day, we will begin our ascent towards the **summit of Mount Kazbek**, very early in the morning, and descend back to our camp.

Finally, on the fourth day, we will descend to Stepantsminda and return to Tbilisi. Please note that in case of bad weather, we will add an extra day to the tour, making it a 5-day trip.

Departure from Tbilisi at 07.00 am. Arrival in the small mountain village of Stepantsminda. Hiking  towards the meteorological station(3700m) where we will camp (6-hour hike) and spend the night.

Today we will relax and adjust to local climate conditions. Hike towards Betlemi church (3900 m).

At 03:00 am we set out  towards Mount Kazbek summit. From the top of the mountain, we will enjoy amazing views over the surroundind mountains. Return to the meteorological station camp.

From the meteorological station, we descend back to Stepantsminda and travel to Tbilisi.
