This **Southern Patagonian Ice Field expedition from El Chalten** will take you to an unknown world of ice and snow.

The **Southern Patagonian Ice Field** is the biggest remnant of the **Patagonian Ice Sheet**, located south of the **Andes**, between **Argentina** and **Chile**. It's the world's second-largest contiguous extra polar Ice Field.

And on this program we will explore the area in search of the best ski slopes. We'll start from **El Chalten**, a beautiful small town, located at the foot of **Mount Fitz Roy**, on the Argentinian side of Patagonia.

If you're a freeride lover, this itinerary has to be on your favorites list. Very early, from the month of April, we can enjoy powder conditions in the Southern Hemisphere, until the arrival of summer when the spring snow awaits us for fantastic descents on glaciers.

Very early in the morning, we leave from El Chalten towards Lago del Desierto, where a great mountain range with unique peaks awaits us. The ascent begins through large forests (1/2 hour depending on the itinerary) and then we reach the glacier area, where we have different options for our skiing, depending on the snow conditions and the avalanche risk. At the end of the day we return to El Chalten.
