Join me on a **12-Day Mountaineering Course** in the **Cordillera Blanca**.

I will be guiding you not only through the course, but on a full service adventure within the **Peruvian Andes**. Learning is great, and in this case it is vital, but learning while enjoying some of the most incredible sights you will ever see is even better.

Mountaineering is an activity that demands your respect. It is as enjoyable as it can be dangerous, so you need to know how to do it properly. There are several skills a successful climber must know before they begin climbing. Thus the need for a course like this.

Some of the skills I will instruct you on include, **Equipment Use and Care,** **Hazard Evaluation**, **Top Rope Management**, **Self and Team Arrest**, **Vertical Ice Climbing**, **Route Finding** and **Expedition Planning**. We will also cover **Glaciology** and **Altitude Physiology.** You will learn the critical skills needed for **Crevasse Rescue.** Finally, on the last day, you will make an attempt to summit the majestic **Mount Yanapaqcha (5,460m)**.

The course portion of this **12-Day Mountaineering Course** is intensive, but not overwhelming. Leading up to the course portion however, you will get to enjoy some of the **Cordillera Blanca's** most beautiful sights. You will see the turquoise water of the **Laguna Churup** and enjoy amazing views from the **Peka Ventana.**

At the conclusion of the course, we will return to Huaraz, where you will enjoy a delicious **Banquet Dinner**.

Private pick-up at the Lima International Airport. Transfer to hotel for a nice meal and rest.

Lima

Private transfer in the morning to the bus station. Take a comfortable first class, approximately 8-hour bus ride to Huaraz. Settle into hotel for the night.

Huaraz

Orientation meeting in the morning in the hotel. Head out on a 4 hour acclimatization hike to the _Puka Ventana_ (Red Window). Return to hotel for the night.

Puka Ventana

Approximately 5 hour day hike to the Laguna Churup. Return to hotel for the night.

Laguna Churup (4,500m)

Transport to Cebollapampa. Take one final acclimatization hike to Lake 69 (4,750m) then return to camp for the night.

Cebollapampa (4,000m)

Climbers will wake up, eat breakfast, and pack up camp while waiting for transport to the Yanapaqcha trailhead. Upon arrival, climbers will hike for approximately 3 hours to base camp. Preliminary skills are the focus of the day, including, introduction to mountaineering and hazard management, equipment use and care, climbing knots and altitude physiology.

Base Camp

Climbers will wake up at 6:30 am and have breakfast. Approximately 30 minute hike up to the ice. Focus on practical skills that includes, walking with crampons, kicking steps/following tracks, using an ice axe to walk and self belay, self arrest, team arrest, rope team travel techniques and snow/ice anchors. At around 4:30 pm descend back to camp for dinner and rest.

Glacier Practice

Climbers will eat breakfast at 7 am. Class begins at 8 am. Morning spent learning belay systems, equalised anchors and haul systems. After lunch, entire afternoon is spent on the snow practising the important skill of “Crevasse Rescue.” Return to camp by 5:30 pm for dinner and rest.

Crevasse Rescue Practice

Climbers will leave campsite at 7:30 am. Head to ice to practice various techniques and scenarios of glacier travel. Climbers will be presented with problems they must solve using the skills they’ve practised and developed over last 2 days. Another crevasse rescue will be performed. Later on, climbers will head to an ice wall to learn a top-rope anchor system for ice climbing. After that, a pre-summit discussion will take place planning the following day’s climbing objective. Dinner will be served at around 5 pm.

Summit Preparation

Climbers will wake up at 3 am, eat breakfast and gear up. They will head up to the glacier and begin the summit attempt in pre-established rope teams. Depending on snow conditions, weather, and team health/fitness, the summit can be reached in approximately 4-6 hours. Descent will take approximately 3-4 hours. Climbers should be back in camp by mid-afternoon for lunch and rest. Those who wish to continue with skills practice will head back up to the glacier or to a location where instructor can work with anything climber still wishes to learn/practice.

Summit

Climbers will eat breakfast at 7:30 am, pack up camp, and hike to the road where transport will be waiting to return them to Huaraz. Upon arrival at the Skyline Adventures base, gear will be unloaded and accounted for. Afterwards, climbers will return to their hotel and enjoy a celebration banquet.

Last minute shopping for friends and family. Departing for Lima at 11 am and arriving at Lima International Airport or hotel at approximately 7:30 pm.

I want to guide you on a **6-Day Mountaineering Course** that will properly prepare you for the peaks to come.

There are few activities in the world more exhilarating than mountain climbing. However, it is imperative that one learns how to climb safely. Too many injuries and fatalities occur in the mountains because of a lack of preparation. Hence the need for courses like this. Because a lot can happen in the peaks, from avalanches to sudden storms, and you need to know what to do when those things occur.

You don't require any prior climbing experience to take this **6-day Mountaineering Course**. Our classroom will be the beautiful **Cordillera Blanca** mountain range.

The objective of this course will be to teach you the skills necessary to be a successful, safe climber. I will help you learn better decision making when the unexpected happens. I will teach you the technical skills needed to climb effectively. And I will see to it that you understand the intricacies of climbing.

A lot will be covered over the course's 6 days. We will go over **Hazard Evaluation** and **Haul systems**, **Glaciology** and **Top Rope Management**. We will cover the crucial **Crevasse Rescue.** You will practice walking in **Crampons**, **Ice Climbing**, and tying **Climbing Knots**. We will discuss **Route Finding** and **Expedition Planning**. And we will conclude with a summit attempt of the beautiful mountain, **Yanapaqcha (5,460m)**.

6-Day Mountaineering Course Cordillera Blanca

Let me guide you on a 2-week expedition to the peaks of **Alpamayo** (5,950m) and **Quitaraju** (6,200m).

Climbers from all over the world venture to the **Cordillera Blanca** in **Peru** to climb **Alpamayo** and **Quitaraju**. They come to feel the jagged stone on their fingertips, while also breathing in the thin, frigid air. They come to hear the sound of their feet pressing down against the compacting snow, while also seeing a view so stunning, pictures just can't do it justice.

But this trek is a challenging one. Past experience is required. **Alpamayo** and **Quitaraju** will not be conquered easily. They will not just yield to your ambitions. They will test your will and they will test your skill. Hence the 15 day itinerary. But I promise you that every single day of our 2-weeks together will be one of adventure and awe. Besides the mighty mountains, you will see some truly amazing things.

Approximately 5 hour hike to Laguna Churup. Return to hotel for the night.

All day, technical glaciated climb up Huarapasca peak. Leaving at 3am and returning to hotel in Huaraz by 5:30pm for the night.

Huarapasca Peak (5,400m)

Go to town of Cashapampa to load donkeys with gear and supplies. Camp near alpine lake.

Santa Cruz Valley

Arrive to base camp by mid-afternoon. Stay the night.

Ascend steep moraine to camp for the night.

Moraine Camp (4,900m)

Ascend to high camp located between Alpamayo and Quitaraju for the night.

High Camp (5,200m)

Depart from camp at 3am, climb steep summit wall to mountain summit. Camp for the night.

Alpamayo Summit (5,950m)

Rest Day

Quitaraju Summit (6,100m)

Hike back to Cashapampa, returning to Huaraz around 4pm. Check back into hotel. Meet later in the evening for celebration feast.

Departing Huaraz at 11am, reaching Lima International Airport or hotel by approximately 7:30pm.

Alpamayo Quitaraju 2-Week Guided Ascent

Are you already in the **Cordillera Blanca**? Are you not ready to go home?

At first glance, the peak of **Artesonraju** may look familiar to you. That's because it inspired the world famous logo of **Paramount Studios**.

While many people are too tired to move at the end of a 2-week trek through the **Peruvian Andes**, some still want more. And at a rapid 5-days, this trip is a perfect **add-on**. However, this is not an easy climb. It is strenuous. Hence, scaling the **Artesonraju** requires past experience. You will be screened beforehand. But the rewards will be well worth it.

There is a reason **Paramount Studios** chose this mountain over any other. The peak is absolutely gorgeous. It is one of the most beautiful in all of the **Andes**.

Access to **Artesonraju** is pretty straightforward. Thus the condensed trip time. We will depart from **Huaraz** to the **Paron Valley**. After that we will make our way to the **High Camp** at the **Glacier** nestled beneath the mountain's southwest face. From there we will have 2 days to summit the mighty mountain's 600 meter snow and ice covered wall, before making our way back to Huaraz on the final day.

Leave Huaraz in the morning for a 3 hour trek to the Paron Valley. Camp at either Base Camp or Moraine Camp for the night depending on weather or group preferences.

Continue approach up mountain until High Camp for the night.

High Camp

Leave camp at midnight, make 1-2 hour trek to to base of 600 meter mountain face. Depending on snow conditions, reaching summit and descending can take between 8-12 hours.

Artesonraju summit (6,025m)

Additional attempt to reach summit in case of bad weather, health, etc. Descend to Moraine Camp or Base Camp for the night.

Additional Summit Day

Hike from camp to meet transport back to Huaraz, where hot showers and dinner await!

Come and join me on one of the most incredible treks in the world. Follow me for 18 days as I guide you through the spectacular **Huayhuash** mountain range.

Not part of the National Park, the **Huayhuash** is a remote, wild place. However, don't let its isolation fool you because it remains one of the more renowned trekking paths on Earth. Because of its remote location, the local population of the range have organised themselves to welcome all wishing to visit. Hence the feeling that you are not on the typical tourist path.

With every step, you will be able to look up and see several of the **Huayhuash's** incredible peaks. From **Yerupaja** and **Siula Grande** to **Jirishanca** and **Sarapo**. Besides those peaks, along with many others, you will also be able to see three differently coloured, sparkling glacial lakes. But that isn't all, as you will also be able to touch the glacier at **Cuyoc** and soak in the hot springs near the **Viconga** **Camp**. There is also the turquoise water of the **Laguna Chulup** and the town of **Huayllapa**, deep within the mountains.

There are simply too many highlights of this trip to list, and while at first glance 18 days may seem long, I promise you that by the end of this trek, you'll be convinced it's not enough. And for those looking for a challenge, there will also be chances to test yourself against the off trail options that offer some of the most incredible views you will ever see.

Laguna Churup (Camp Altitude 4,500m)

Depart Huaraz for town of Llamac (approximately 5 hour ride). Camp for the night.

Llamac (Camp Altitude 3,300m)

Llamac to Matacancha by way of Pocpa. Duration of trek is approximately 5-6 hours. Camp for the night.

Matacancha (Camp Altitude 4,100m)

Matacancha to Laguna Mitacocha over the Cancanpunta pass. Duration of trek is approximately 5-6 hours. Camp for the night.

Laguna Mitacocha (Camp Altitude 4,150m)

Laguna Mitacocha to Laguna Carhuacocha. There are 2 options for trek, either gradual easy pass on main pass, or an off trail with steeper terrain and a high rocky pass. Duration of trek is approximately 5-8 hours. Camp for the night.

Laguna Carhuacocha (Camp altitude 4,180m)

Great place to fish, explore, take a day hike to one of the lakes under Jirishanca, visit the locals, or rest. Camp for the night.

Rest day at Laguna Carhuacocha

Laguna Carhuacocha to Huayhuash. Majority of people choose the off trail in order to see the three differently coloured lakes underneath the peaks of Yerupaja and Siula. However, there is also the option to follow the donkeys along a gradual and less scenic pass. Camp for the night.

HuayHuash (Camp Altitude 4,330m)

Huayhuash to Viconga. Duration of trek is approximately 5-6 hours. Camp for the night.

Viconga (Camp Altitude 4,400m)

Viconga to Guanacpatay. This trek will take you over the highest pass in the HuayHuash circuit, reaching 5000 meters in altitude. Duration of trek is approximately 5-7 hours. Camp for the night.

Guanacpatay (Camp Altitude 4,200m)

Guanacpatay to Cutatambo. There are two options for this portion of the trek. There is the more difficult off-trail option over the Santa Rosa pass and down into the valley below, or the easier option following the donkeys around the valley floor. Duration of the trek is approximately 6-8 hours. Camp for the night.

Cutatambo (Camp Altitude 4,300m)

Beautiful views are offered in this area of the range. there are also day hike options to either Laguna Sarapococha or the _Gran Vista_ (Great View) Col, if you have the energy to make the climb. Camp for the night.

Rest day in Cutatambo

Cutatambo to Huatiac. Hike will take place just below the Tapush pass. Duration of trek is approximately 5-7 hours. Camp for the night.

Huatiac (Camp Altitude between 4,300m and 4,600m)

Hike from Huatiac to Laguna Jahuacocha over the Tapush Pass. Duration of trek is approximately 6 hours.

Laguna Jahuacocha (Camp Altitude 4,060m)

Laguna Jahuacocha to Llamac early in the morning. From Llamac return to Huaraz for shower and celebration banquet. Stay in hotel for the night.

Hauraz

Departing for Lima at 11 am, allowing for last minute shopping. Arriving at either Lima International Airport or hotel at approximately 7pm.

Huayhuash 18-Day Guided Trek

Let me guide you on a thrilling 16-day trek through the valley of **Los Cedros**. Also known as the **Alpamayo Circuit**.

The **Los Cedros** is one of the least travelled trails in the **Cordillera Blanca**. But don't be fooled by its remote location, as it offers some of the most beautiful sights in the entire **Peruvian Andes**.

Each day on this trek will present you with something new and spectacular. From waterfalls and snowy peaks to sparkling alpine lakes and windy passes. On the lone rest day, you will even have the chance to behold the stunning Northwest face of **Alapmayo,** a view credited for winning the peak the title of, "Most beautiful mountain in the world."

With additional optional hikes available, this trek through the **Los Cedros** valley is truly unique. If you were to take this trip ten times, you would have ten different experiences.

While not too difficult, this trek is intensive. Every day will find you hiking between 5-7 hours. But I have no doubt you'll be eager to walk even more than that in hopes that something incredible will be waiting around the next corner.
