I am qualified to supervise hiking and snowshoeing.

The **Small tour of Oisans** is a 6-day tour for medium level hikers. Perfect if you want to hike in medium altitude mountains with a light carriage.

During this tour I will lead you with perfect knowledge of the massif.The variety of the landscapes is impressive. In fact, we will see from high mountain glaciers, to alpine meadows, going by mountains forests, high altitude lakes, rocky walls and waterfalls.

The accommodation will sometimes be in comfortable lodges in traditional valleys. We will also spend the night in warm mountain refuges in beautiful locations.

A taxi will carry your luggage from lodge to lodge so that you can travel light. You will only have to carry it when we spend the night in a refuge.

We meet at Bourg d’Oisans and transfer to la garde (1031m). Then we start the hike to the high meadows of the Sarenne pass, almost 2000 meters high. A beautiful trip through the mountain environment.

Maronne - Rosai - Sarenne Gorges - Sarenne refuge (1999m)

The Croix de Cassini is a belvedere offering incredible views over all the surrounding high summits. We will also be over the Ferrand valley, where we will spend the night.  
We will traverse the Clavans le Haut village later during the day. It’s a small jewel of the local architecture.  
Our final objective for today is the village of Besse en Oisans.

Today we go to the magnificent Emparis plateau. Here there are around 20,000 head of cattle. There are breathtaking views over the Meije glaciers (3982m). The marmots will join us all along our day.

Besse en Oisans - Mouterres refuge (2258m)

Today we almost not ascend. We will actually explore the plateau with the two lakes. Then a descent by the waterfalls takes us to the small Clos refuge, where we can stop for an afternoon snack. The traverse of Mizoëns makes us discover a fascinating world of flora and geology.

Noir and Lérié lake (2450m) - Mizoëns (1186m)

Today the landscape changes dramatically, becoming more rocky. Today and tomorrow we will be in the Ecrins National Park. Once we reach the refuge, we will go up to a small glacial lake (optional). It’s an extra effort but the reward is definitely worth it!

Taxi to Champhorent (1584m) in the Vénéon valley - Lavey refuge (1797m) - Bèches lake (2401m)

This last stage is in a meridional ambiance. A wild itinerary where we will see flora specific to the warm side. The freshness of the beautiful forest will protect us from the sun during the hottest part of the day. We will go along the Vénéon before ending with a short ascent to Saint Christophe.

I invite you on this occasion to a beautiful traverse of the **Belledonne** to be done in 3 days.

We will leave from the Freydières gorges above Revel. Then, we will hike until **Rivier d’Allemond**, a typical mountain village. In fact, the houses in this village have large timber frames. When in town, we can visit the goat house as well as the ibex museum.

The views over the **Grand Pic** (2980m) and the **Freydane glacier** (2600m) on the second day are truly impressive.

Although the ascent of the **Croix de Belledonne** is in the program, this will depend on the weather. I will also consider the level of the participants to decide whether we do this ascent.

Belledonne traverse in 3 days

I invite you in this occasion to a **summer hiking trip** in the beautiful **Ecrins**. I designed a 4-day itinerary to make you discover some of my favourite spots in the region.

We will be in a high mountain environment, in the **Ecrins National Park**. Some of the highlights of the itinerary include the **Lavey valley** with its unique flora, and the beautiful **Fétoules lake**. But there is much more than that! Check the daily itinerary below for more information. In addition, you will see that I offer different options so that you can choose the one you prefer.

The route includes some steep passages, therefore you have to be comfortable in this type of terrain and have experience. The trails are practically all on marked trail except on the third day.

Clot d’Outre parking (1584m) – Lavey refuge (1797 me)– Bèches lake (2417 m)

Walking time: 5 hours

This first day will bring us to a high mountain environment without too much effort. Going towards the Lavey valley will allow us to get to know the Ecrins massif. Almost the whole route is in the National Park. A descent to the torrent, then a short steep climb takes us to the small Raja hamlet. Then we go up along the Lavey torrent, where we reach the moorlands with blueberries near the refuge. Peaks and glittering glaciers surround the refuge. We will see marmots and chamois. It’s a perfect overview of what Oisans is: a country of rock and ice. The climb to the Bèches Lake is a good opportunity to continue in the high mountain and appreciate a beautiful glacial lake. We spend the evening at the Lavey refuge with other hikers.

Pastoralism - Flora

Option 1: Lavey refuge – Arias lodge, descending directly through the right bank, passing by Gassaudière.

Walking time: 5 hours

Option 2: Lavey refuge – Fétoules lake – Arias lodge  
D +692/-832m

During this day we go by two hamlets now abandoned: the Soucher and the Gassaudière. It will also be a journey through the mountain to reach the tumultuous Vénéon torrent. The descent on the left bank of the Lavey valley is a jewel of beauty with unique flora. Marmots and chamois are often also present in this area. In the middle of the day we will be in the shade of the spruces to avoid the hot temperatures. We make a nice turn by the Gassaudière hamlet before beginning the descent for the Veneon. There will be a 1-hour climb to reach the Arias lodge at Clot d’Outre.

The option to go to the Fétoules lake will lead us higher (2240 m). The itinerary here is completely different. The small lake lies under the Tête des Fétoules, an emblematic summit of the area (3459 m). We will then go down on a little marked trail in a very wild area. It is an overhanging and open route offering, weather permitting, a unique view of the surrounding peaks and glaciers.

Note: If you have the appropriate level, there are other options available, but we have to be in good shape for the following day:  
1) Ascent to the Rouies lake (D+ 925m from the refuge)  
2) Going up the Lavey valley to reach a glacial lake formed above a moraine (D+ 700m)

The remains of the past in the wild Oisans

Bourg d’Arud (985 m) – Muzelle refuge (2115 m)  
D +1200/-517m  
Walking time: 7 hours

Today we go the most beautiful climb of the circuit. It’s demanding but the panorama of the peaks and surrounding massifs (Dôme of the Ecrins, Belledonne, Grandes Rousses) is outstanding. A village with fine examples of local architecture, a forest on steep slopes, steep passages, a beautiful aerial ridge and a view to the front rows on the imposing Muzelle glacier. These are the main elements encountered during this beautiful journey through the mountain floors. We will arrive at the Cime du Pied Barry before descending to the alpine pastures to reach the refuge and lake of Muzelle.

The mountain day

Muzelle refuge (2115m) – Valley pass (2531m) – Le Plan du Lac (1185 m)  
D +536/-1486m  
Walking time: 5 hours

In the morning we go through a beautiful trail to the valley pass, from where we can see the Lauvitel lake 1000 meters below. We descend by the same route and continue down to the Muzelle refuge.

Note: we have other options for this day:  
1) Descending straight to the refuge if we are tired from the day before (3:30hs)  
2) Going up to the Muzelle pass (D +/-500 from the refuge)  
3) From the valley pass going down to Danchère by Lauvitel (D -1500m) In this case we need a taxi.

**The short tour of the Oisans**

This tour is for hikers that really want to have a camp to camp hiking experience – the ideal formula to meet and discover the environment.

Each step will not exceed the five hours walking, with positive altitude changes  of 900 meters on average.

We will cross the villages located at the foot of the largest mountain pastures of Oisans, included **Clavans** and **Besse in Oisans** which are perfect examples of traditional mountain architecture.

Emparis, a famous pasture, which hosts migratory herds from the south, offers the finest views of the north face of the **Meije** (3983 m).

We will leave together to enjoy 3 incredible days of discoveries!!

Hiking around Oisans

This circuit is a sample of the wide variety of settings that we can find in the **Ecrins Massif**.

This area is located in **Oisans** and in particular around the **Vénéon Valley.**

During these three days we will cross pastures; we will visit the high glaciers; we will also go to the edge of the emerald coloured lakes and spend pleasant moments of conviviality in two mountain huts.

We often be in the presence of the magnificent flora and fauna of the National Park.

The best time for this tour is between June 20th (depending on winter snow remaining on the altitude passes over 2500 m) and August 31st (flora is less present in late summer).

This rarely used route around the **Oeuilly peak** is located near the **Chamrousse** resort in the **Belledonne Massif**.

You will discover the bumpy tundra and bogs landscape.

In the forest, you will maybe meet the black woodpecker and the deer. Then comes the reward: a 360° view over all Grenoble massifs.

This hike takes place over half a day and is ideal to take children to introduce them to the discovery of the mountain splendor.

**Belledonne, part of the Dauphiné Alps in the French Alps**, is a great place to enjoy your holidays. If you are looking for breathtaking views in France, this hiking tour is the perfect excuse!

In this opportunity, you can join me for a 1 or several-day trip (up to 3 days). **The trip can be arranged depending on your preferences and schedule**. You will start hiking from the **Freydières in Revel** until you reach **Rivier d’Allemont**, a characteristic mountain village. This hike in the **Lavey valley** is the perfect plan to recharge your batteries during 2 days. Join me in this high mountain environment for a refreshing adventure. The Lavey alley is in the **Ecrins National Park**.

You will be a guest in a protected location. This renders the mountain even more appealing in my opinion. in fact, we will get to fully enjoy the natural scenery.

Both on the first and second day, we can choose between two different itineraries.

We will share a pleasant night in good company with other hikers and mountaineers at the refuge.

The fact that the valley is very sunny is definitely a highlight of the trip. Moreover, we will see marmots and chamoix. Plus, the flora in the area is simply magnificent. During the two days we will enjoy the views over multiple glaciers.

**Lavey Valley** is a great place to hike in France. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to get to know the **Ecrins National Park** and enjoy a beautiful mountain environment.

The Ecrins National Park is a limited protected area in France, in the **Dauphiné Alps**. In the park, you will find high mountains peaks, glacier valleys, lakes and sub-alpine woodlands. During the hike, you will enjoy beautiful views and you’ll be able to connect with nature.

Join me in this hike in **Oisans**, going to the **3 Vallées: Eau D’olle, Sarenne** and **Ferrand**. We will traverse these wonderful places during 5 days together.

For this hike you need to be in good physical shape, but it does not have particular technical difficulties.

One of my favourite things of this program includes the magnificent views we get over the Belledonne during day 1. Then, on day 2 we discover some beautiful summits: Etendard, the Pic Bayle and the Pic Blanc de l’Alpe d’Huez. There are even more stunning sceneries, including the emblematic Grand Pic de la Meije. Moreover, we will visit the most flowery village in the Oisans: Mizoëns.

**Oz en Oisans (1400m) – Alpette (2000m) – Refuge de la Fare (2300m)**

Leaving from the small Oz en Oisans station, we ascend through a forest until an open terrain first. Then we continue until a balcony at 2300m. Finally, we reach the refuge.

Massif des Grandes Rousses

**Fare refuge (2300m) – Fare lake (2600m) – Lac Blanc pass (2700m) – Old Herpie mines – Sarenne pass (1999m)**

We ascend to several altitude lakes located under the glaciers of the high summits of the massif. These dominating summits are the Etendard (3400m), the Pic Bayle (3465m) and the Pic Blanc de l’Alpe d’Huez (3300m).  
We descend to the Sarenne valley.  
From the Sarenne pass we take a taxi to the Besse en Oisans village.  
During the whole itinerary we have beautiful views over the Ecrins and many other massifs.

Grandes Rousses massif - Alpe d'Huez - Sarenne valley

**Besse en Oisans – Mouterres refuge by the GR 54 tour de l’Oisans / Ecrins**

The Emparis plateau is renown as it’s the largest pasture in the country. It’s grass attracts sheep (25000!) coming from the Arles country. This is again an open landscape and we have open views over the Grand Pic de la Meije and its magnificent glaciers.

**Mouterres refuge – The lakes – Mizoëns by the waterfalls**

Today the landscapes are as varied as impressive. We will spend the first half of the day at the pleateau, ascending to 2 altitude lakes in a beautiful setting.  
Then we have a long descent by famous waterfalls until the Mizoëns village.

**Mizoëns – Les Puys – La Garde en Oisans – Cluy pass – Rosai – La Garde of Huez**

During this last day we progress until the Sarenne valley.

**Oisans** is a beautiful region in the Alps located in southeastern France. It is surrounded by amazing mountains, valleys and rivers and it’s a great spot to enjoy hiking.

During this hike, participants will visit some of the villages of the area, such as **Clavans-en-Haut-Oisans** and **Besse-en-Oisans**. Another possible destination can be the **Plateau d’Emparis**. With **2,463 meters**, this plateau belongs to the **Arves massif** and is a great place to contemplate the north face of the **Meije (3,983 meters)**.

Although this trip is not for experts, having **a good physical condition** is important. You can expect an elevation gain of **900 meters** during the hike.
