Join me on this **3-day adventure** where you will explore this amazing peak, rising to a total elevation of 2,584 meters, known for its challenging terrain, which require technical skills and experience. As a certified mountain guide, **I will guide you as we navigate through narrow ice-filled gorges and rugged rocky landscapes.** We will choose the perfect route for you according to the weather conditions and your skill level.

We'll start our journey towards the Guillaumet mountain from El Chalten, known as the **"Trekking Capital of Argentina".** We will get a chance to take in the natural beauty of the region as we travail through the Patagonian wilderness as the Fitz Roy mountain range looms over us. Once we reach the Piedra Negra refuge, we'll be able to rest and prepare for the last leg of our journey.

We'll set our early to make our way towards Paso Guillaumet, and eventually reach the base of the Amy route. The initial 200m climb will lead us to the mountain ridge, where we'll then tackle four challenging trails. Once we reach the summit ridge, it's just a 15-minute walk to the highly anticipated summit. Here, you will enjoy this rewarding vantage point which offers **panoramic views of the raw beauty of the Patagonian Ice Field**, with snow covered-peaks stretching out as far as the eye can see.

Prior to our trip, we will meet up for a briefing session in order to go over details of the trip and equipment check

Once we're all set, we'll transfer towards the bridge in Río Eléctrico where we will begin with a two-hour trek to the Piedra del Fraile refuge. Then, we will continue with a more demanding trekking trip where we'll traverse through 800 m of uneven terrain for aproximately 3 hours until we reach the Piedra Negra base camp.

We'll rise early and head to Paso Guillaumet until we arrive at the base of the Amy route. The first 200 m stretch will take us to the ridge of the mountain. After four trails with grade 5 difficulty, we will reach the summit ridge. After a 15-minute walk, we'll reach the long-awaited summit. The descent will be realized through the same route.

Depending on the conditions of the route and the weather, the alternative route would be Fongrouge.

The return journey to the town will take a total of 4 hours and will follow the same itinerary as the first day.

Take on the challenge of ascending the **impressive peak of "Aguja de la S"** in the Argentine Patagonia. This striking, needle-shaped formation stands at an **outstanding height of 2,801 meters**, and offers several routes that will put your skills to the test. This proving ground is the ideal destination for adventure-seekers looking to hone their **technical skills and knowledge in alpine climbing.**

Our journey to the summit of Aguja de la S commences after a brief meeting in El Chalten to check our equipment and cover any last-minute details. We'll begin by trekking for around two hours until we reach Campo Poicenot. From there, we'll cross the Rio Blanco river to reach the Laguna Sucia lagoon, walk along its border, and continue on across glacial tills. Finally, we'll arrive at Cueva de Pedro Lutti, where we'll set up camp and rest for the night.

We'll start to make our way towards the towering needle at the crack of dawn. Our first destination is the Rio Blanco glacier and, once there, we'll begin ascent. **You'll face steep snow slopes, icy paths and tricky terrain** as we reach the first rock pitches. Given that the climbing routes are not pre-fitted, we'll be required to set up our own safety gear and move forward accordingly.

As you ascend the peak, the beauty of the surrounding landscape becomes more and more breathtaking, making the climb a truly unforgettable experience. **Bask in the glory of conquering this challenging course** once you reach the summit, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the mesmerizing Argentine Patagonia and the stunning snow-capped peaks that surround it.

We will rappel down to the glacier for our final descent and follow the same path back to the cave. After making our final preparations, we'll head back to the starting point of our unforgettable trip.

We'll set out from El Chalten driving towards El Pilar Hostel where we left our vehicles. Once there, we start trekking for approximately two hours through the woods until we reach Campo Poicenot. We'll then cross the Rio Blanco river to access the Laguna Sucia lagoon, walk through its border and continue across glacial tills. Finally, we'll arrive at Cueva de Pedro Lutti where we'll set our camp and rest for the night.

Departure from El Chalten

We start our day very early in the morning to traverse to the Rio Blanco glacier. Once we reach the bergschrund we'll start our ascent. Normally, a snow slope with a 50° inclination is climbed until reaching the first rock pitches. The climbing routes are not equipped, so we have to place our own protection and make progress. The descent is done by rappelling down to the glacier and following the same path back to the cave.

On our last day, we'll return to El Chalten through the same path.

Starting early in the morning from El Chalten, we will travel 37 km to Lake del Desierto. Depending on the time of year, we may make this journey on a snowy road using a 4x4 vehicle.

Upon arriving at the Lago del Desierto ranch parking lot, we will begin the approach hike to the Huemul Glacier, a path through the Lenga forest that leads us to a beautiful glacial lagoon. From here, we will trek along the lateral moraine until we reach the snow, where we will continue with touring skis.

The ascent is steep and will take approximately 5 to 6 hours to climb. Halfway through the journey, before getting onto the glacier, we will stop to put on the safety equipment for the glacier, from here the route goes through areas of crevasses.

Upon reaching the summit and taking a well-deserved break, we will have several options for descent in a wild environment with beautiful views of the granite giants and the continental ice.

Prepare yourself for an **adrenaline-fueled ski excursion in** **Loma de Diablo**, a remote mountain in the Santa Cruz province that is sure to test your limits and deliver a challenging yet thrilling skiing experience.

As the first rays of sunlight hit the mountain, we will make our way towards **Lago del Desierto** with a 20 km trek that will first take us to the Mosquito stream bridge.

Strapping on our touring skis, we continue our journey through the Mosquito Valley, where we are greeted with **an array of thrilling options**. Typically, we ascend to the summit, carving our way down **its lengthy 1200 m descent** to the valley floor. From there, we can choose to embark on a new ascent towards any of its adjacent slopes, depending on the snow conditions at the time.

Loma del Diablo's skiing experience is best suited for **seasoned and skilled skiers** who can navigate through the steep terrain, coupled with variable snow conditions. On top of that, the mountain's high altitude and location in the Andes can cause the weather to shift suddenly, creating a true test for anyskier on Loma del Diablo.

It is a full-day ski touring outing. We leave early in the morning, covering the route towards Lake del Desierto for 20 km until the Mosquito stream bridge. From there, we leave our vehicle and walk for approximately 1 hour through a Lenga forest, following a fairly steep trail until we reach the snow.

From this point, we continue with the touring skis. The Mosquito Valley offers us different options. Usually, we reach the summit to make a long descent to the bottom of the valley, and from there we can start a new ascent to any of its side slopes depending on the snow conditions.

Fitz Roy and some of the major peaks of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, including Cerro Gorra Blanca, are always visible from the ridges and summits with stunning panoramas.
