Tomas was born in Bariloche and is now an IFMGA/UIAGM High Mountain Guide. At 5 years of age he began to ski and from there he developed his passion for the mountains. He moved to El Chalten in 2006. Tomy has worked and climbed in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Nepal, Spain, France, Suitzerland and Italy. In Argentina he has guided on Aconcagua several times and in both North Patagonia and South Patagonia ("El Chalten"). He has climbed Fitz Roy 8 times and Cerro Torre 2 times, as well as numerous ascents of the other peaks in these ranges.

##### **Bariloche**, in the **Argentinian Patagonia**, is one of the most famous places around the world for ski touring.

The **Patagonia** in **South America** offers some of the best winter destinations. Also, within this continent, lies one of the most majestic mountain ranges in the world, the **Andes**. And during winter, the snow that travels through this magical range covers everything around with fresh layers of snow during the whole season.

Also, **Bariloche** has an incredible infrastructure. The resorts here are equally impressive as any of the ones you might find in **Europe** or **North America**.

**Bariloche is located in Patagonia, Argentina in the Southern Andes**. Winter sport lovers from all over the world visit this region every year. On this trip **you will enjoy an awesome ski touring day** under expert guidance. Come join me!

**The Andes, in South America, is the longest continental mountain range in the world**. It stretches around 7,000 km long from Venezuela to Argentina. **Bariloche, which is on the southern shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake, is one of its most important cities in Patagonia and offers several stunning places to go ski touring.**

**On this trip we can choose between several peaks** depending on your ski level and the weather and snow conditions. Some of the options are:

*   Cerro Catedral (2,405 m), with **steep couloirs surrounded by granite towers.** 
    
*   Cerro López (2,075m), **surrounded by deep blue lakes and big mountains like Tronador**.
    
*   Cerro Challhuaco, with **a nice forest and some excellent views of the Nahuel Huapi National Park**.
    

I will pick you up early in the morning and drive us to the chosen mountain. **Then, we will spend a full day of ski touring on untracked terrain surrounded by wonderful landscapes!**

One day ski touring program in Bariloche

This ski touring program is to discover the best places for skiing around **El Chaltén** area, in **Patagonia**.

El Chaltén is one of the best and most unexplored areas for ski touring in **Argentina**. It has a long winter season and great snow. Besides, the large variety of places to practice winter sports gives us the possibility to go from one spot to another. We can choose the best ones depending on the weather and snow conditions.

The program proposed is of 10 days to ski around the best mountains and valleys accessible from El Chaltén. For example **Vespignani**, **Mosquito**, **Crestón** and **Madsen**. But I can adapt the number of days and the itinerary according to your timing and fitness level.

I’ve been coming to this area for the past ten seasons. Since last year I live here. Therefore, I know and like to share some secrets and the best spots around the region.

Ski touring in El Chaltén, 10 days

**Gorra Blanca** is a mountain located within the **Patagonian Ice Cap** just on the border between Chile and Argentina. Its name is given by the formation of snow and ice on its summit, resembling a white cap.  I would like to take you there for **5 amazing days of ski touring.**

As for the itinerary, our starting point will be El Chaltén, on the Argentinian side. After 2 days of walking and skinning on the Continental ice field, we will reach the **summit of Gorra Blanca.** Then it will be time to enjoy amazing ski descents back to the base of the mountain.

I always suggest to add an extra day in case of bad weather. On day 5 we will be back in El Chaltén.
