Why should I choose Tuscany for my Rock Climbing adventure?
Accessible mountain climbs
The rock climbing routes that are scattered across the valleys and slopes of Tuscany are geared more towards outdoor adventurers that are searching for low technical climbs. The stunning Apuan Alps provide the perfect spot for climbers who want to conquer their first summit. Whether it’s a day of guided rock climbing or a hands on basic climbing course, the Tuscan mountainside calls.
The marbles of Apuan Alps
The mountain range of the Apuan Alps is of great interest given its curious marble formation. These rocks of Tuscany consist of limestone, dolomite and sandstone. Yet with the passing time hardened into Carrara marble, for which the Apuan Alps is well known. They are a tourist attraction in their own right, so getting to grips with them via rock climbing makes your fully appreciate the region.
A nation within a nation
The region of Tuscany has produced such a strong identity that it is often considered a nation within a nation. The Tuscan dialect became the literary voice of Italy given the large cultural output from the region, such as Dante Alighieri, Machiavelli, and Boccaccio. This was the epicentre of the Renaissance, and as such is home to a deep and rich history, literature and culture.
