Discover the beauty of the Bulgarian Mountains on this 1-day hike in Malyovitsa.

Malyovitsa is a peak located in the northwestern area of the Rila Mountains in Bulgaria. At 2,729 meters above sea level, it is a very popular mountain with incredible landscapes.

On this 1-day hike, we’ll go on a round trip through the valley of Malyovitsa river until we reach the top and then we will return. We’ll pick you up early in the morning and transfer you to the exit of the trail which will be the starting point of our hike. After passing Malyovitsa Hut, we’ll reach the top of the peak and enjoy the incredible views. Finally, we’ll drive you back to your accommodation.

During the hike, you will experience an elevation gain of 900 meters. The duration of the hike will be 8 hours and the whole trip will be around 11-12 hours long. Consequently, it is a requirement for this program to have prior mountaineering experience and a good physical condition.

I strongly suggest you bring: Rucksack 15-35L. Waterproof jacket. Fleece. Comfortable hiking shoes. Sunglasses. Sun protection cream. Bottle for water. Head torch - just in case. Snack/Lunch package. Hiking poles - recommendable. Hat/cap/cloth to cover your head against the sun.

My first touch to the mountain had been at age of 3 with my father. Since then I have been spending valuable time among the mountains - at first in Bulgaria and later across the Alps every summer. At age of 24 I visited rock climbing course and two years later I graduated climbing instructor course. In 2010 I finished my the training for mountain leader and decided to devote my life to sharing this passion called mountain experience.

If you intend to visit Bulgaria to climb trad routes you will find several of them set by myself and my climbing buddies.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
