Description

At 3,297 meters above sea level, Monte Argentera is the highest mountain in the Maritime Alps. It is situated in the Gesso Valley, in the Italian province of Cuneo. If you’re looking for an exciting ascent to a beautiful peak, you can’t miss this opportunity.

First of all, we’ll meet in our office in Cuneo and have a short briefing about the equipment. Then, we’ll drive to Terme di Valdieri and Pian della Casa, at an altitude of around 1,700 meters above sea level. Afterwards, we’ll take a 2-hour trek to Remondino Refuge (2,430 meters) where we’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night.

On the next day of the program, we’ll have breakfast and start very early in the morning. After hiking for a while, we’ll go across Passo dei Detriti (3,122 meters). From this point onwards, the final section of the ascent becomes more technical. We’ll face some obstacles climbing and using the rope. Finally, we’ll reach the summit and gaze at the astonishing landscapes around us. Take into account that this ascent has a medium level of difficulty. Therefore, it is important to be physically fit to join the program.

I am a certified Mountain Guide living in Val Maira, where I'm from.
I practice all the aspects of the mountain, but above all what I like the most is exploring wild and unfrequented paths.
I love travelling. have vast experience in the area of Barcelona and Sheffield, in the heart of the Peak District.
I work together with other IFMGA mountain guides, within the Global Mountain team.
I alternate my passion for the mountains with my other job as an engineer.

Exemplary is the word. Andrea's colleague Simone was my guide for this ascent. Andrea coordinated my solo expedition of Monte Argentera with only a few days notice. Conversation with Simone was easy and fascinating from the get-go. He tailored the expedition to suit me best: we moved at a faster pace and took time to meet the wild animals. He introduced me to harness-and-rope based mountain-climbing and created challenges within my limits - always acknowledged the small accomplishments which was very reassuring!. After the main ascent, Simone used his climbing expertise to reach a child who had fallen from a cliff and assisted in an air-ambulance secours. He took it all in his stride and his humility and heroism were exemplary.
