If you wish to polish your skills, this 4-day advanced alpine sport climbing course on Mount Kinabalu is just for you. Similar to the course for beginners, the training will clear some concepts by including sessions on both theory and practical aspects of the sport.
We’ll begin the trip early by picking you up at 6.30 AM from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu. From there, we’ll take you to the Kinabalu Park and after registration, drive towards the start of the climb. A good climb of about 4 hours takes us to Pendant Hut, where you’ll halt to have packed lunch. And then begins our fun training at 3.30 PM.
The first day involves a session on course theory. You will learn some advanced skills here and spend the rest of the day relaxing until you have your dinner at Laban Rata Canteen.
Starting early at 6 AM the next day, you’ll enjoy breakfast and see a beautiful sunrise before beginning the session. The session titled “Course Theory or Practical Session – depending on weather and participant condition” will be 9 hours long and will teach you some advanced practical techniques.
The following day, you’ll follow a similar routine and attend another session of the previous-day course. Thereafter, you’ll discuss the assessment result with your trainer and call it a day.
Although this is just training, you will not go home until you climb the summit of Mount Kinabalu. On the final day, we’ll start early at about 1. 30 AM and set out on our journey to the top. Equipped with nothing but our torchlight, we’ll climb for a good 3 hours to reach the summit just in time to see a spectacular sunrise and head back to Pendant Hut.
Afterward, you’ll pack up and check out of the hut by 8.30 AM and descent to Timpohon Gate to collect your certificates before we drop you off to your hotel.
