Incredibly stunning, Tocllaraju is a great climb for those who want a challenge that provides a worthwhile reward. The views you will get to enjoy from the mountain’s summit are truly spell binding.
Like most climbing expeditions in Peru, our journey to the summit of Tocllaraju will begin in Huaraz. It is a beautiful mountain town that is well worth exploring. After that, we will proceed up the mountain, spending our nights in the base camps of Ishinca as well as Tocllaraju.
There are some challenging technical sections you’ll encounter during this trip. As a result, this trip is reserved for experienced climbers. You should also be in good physical condition as well.
While this trip only lasts 4 days, it is recommended that participants arrive earlier in order to get properly acclimatized, perhaps during a climb on one of the nearby 5,000 meter plus peaks.
If you are looking for a challenging, but incredibly thrilling climb of a gorgeous, gigantic mountain in the Cordillera Blanca, this is the trip for you. To join us on this 4-day adventure, all you have to do is send a request.
Would you like to enjoy an even longer, 6-day climbing expedition? Then join us on this trip that will take you to the summit of Quitaraju.

We start around midnight, we will have breakfast, the guide will make an inspection of everything necessary for the climb, he will rope us and we will go on the adventure, first we will make a traverse through the set overcoming cracks, snow bridges and slopes (30º) up to the shoulder of the NW ridge. We continue along the ridge by climbing sections (45º), overcoming crevasses in the direction of the ice mushroom and rimaya somital. We climb 70 meters in two pitches (70º) setting up an intermediate meeting. We overcome this key section and reach the summit slopes that lead directly to the summit. The summit has an impressive panoramic view, we can appreciate the Cordillera Blanca, the most emblematic mountains of Peru: Palcaraju, Ranrapalca, Ishinca, Urus, Akillpo, Copa, Huantsán, Ocshapalca, Vallunaraju.
We remain on the summit to rest, hydrate and take pictures. Finally we make the descent rappels to get out of the slope and the rimaya, we arrive to our camp, we feed ourselves and continue our descent to the base camp.

An extraordinary expérience with Pablo and Alex, two fantastic guides (and now friends for life) from Huaras, Peru, who are at the same time extremely professional and incredebly flexible. We reached the summit on day 8 to benefit from a good weather window. My heurt is full of gratitude for the who le expérience and the magical encounters I was blessed with during that expedition. Probably amongst the very best memories in my entire life. Thank you si much, guys! And see you soon for new adventures 😛🔥❤️😊

The guide did the absolute minimum he could possibly do. The food provided was definitely not enough for what we were doing. This was already a fast itinerary and he cut it short by two more days. It made it extremely dangerous for us as clients. 2 of the 5 of us had to get flown off the mountain by helicopter due to edema because we didn’t acclimate properly. The guide then lied on social media and claimed 100% success to the summit. He really is a snake. He only cared about cutting everything and doing it as cheap as possible, most likely just to make a few more bucks. If this was a service offered in the U.S., there would’ve been a lawsuit. He should never guide this trip ever again for the pure safety of the clients.
