Description

Join me on this epic 4-day trek through the Peruvian countryside and I guarantee you will make memories to last a lifetime, as we journey through and admire the glorious natural scenery of places such as Ausangate, Pucacocha Pass and Anatapata, with our adventure ending via a trek to the truly gorgeous and striking Rainbow Mountain.

Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain are both located approximately 100km Southeast of the ancient Incan capital of Cusco, in Peru, and have garnered worldwide attention for their unique, vivid and rich colours visible on the sides of the mountains. The vivacious colours have come about due to the mineralogical composition present on the slopes and summits, and are an immensely popular photo opportunity.

Our adventure begins when we meet and depart from Cusco on day 1, and the focal point of this day will be a winding and fun walk towards the community of Upis, from where will be able to catch our first glimpse of the mighty and snow-covered Ausangate.

Day 2 takes us to a wide variety of locations, with a challenging hike up to Arapa Pass and down to Yanacocha providing fantastic views out over the appealing and lovely lakes that dot the area. Continuing on to Pucacocha Pass and then Apacheta, our busy and rewarding day comes to a close by setting up camp at Ausangate Cocha.

Our 3rd day entails a 6-hour hike to Anatapata, before we get an early night in preparation for the early start the next morning.

Our 4th and last day is the undoubted highlight of the trip, as we get up bright and early in order to trek towards Rainbow Mountain, an absolutely exquisite and alluring sight that exceeds all expectations.

We finish our trip back in Cusco, satisfied and happy at the awesome sights we have seen.

Book now to see some of the best sights in Peru – you won’t regret it one bit!

The experience exceeded our expectations. The trail and its historical importance in addition to the ruins through the trail provided a rich background for our final destination. The crown of the jewel, Machu Picchu was magnificent and it's importance and beauty enhanced by our guide's knowledge of the Incas and their customs and beliefs. It was an unforgettable journey filled with physical and mental challenges but most rewarding on so many other levels beyond this famous trail. It was an unforgettable experience.

Don’t know the guides salary but I’m sure it’s not much so if possible increase Marcos wage. He’s an asset and a really enthusiastic, knowledgable and all round good guy.

Alfredo was intelligent, hard working, a bundle of energy, patient, caring, informative, and entertaining. He is one of the best guides I have seen with a perfect set of skills. My only negative would be that the quality of the camp gear (chairs, dining tent) were worn and should be replaced. The food was sub par and a bit disappointing. The soup was good, the desserts appropriate for the conditions, the hot chocolate appreciated. The porters were kind, hard working and helpful
