Would you like to discover South America’s highest mountain? Then join me on this unforgettable 7-day Aconcagua Base Camp Trek, perfect for beginner and intermediate mountain climbers who wish to get a taste of the Andes!
At 6,960.8 m (22,837 ft), Aconcagua is the highest mountain in South America, and one of the famous 7 summits. On this one-week adventure, we will trek to the Plaza de Mulas base camp, which lies at an altitude of 4,200 m (13,779.53 ft). We will also climb to the summit of the nearby Cerro Bonete, which will give us great views of Aconcagua’s west face. You can find a detailed itinerary below.
Please keep in mind that this is not a technical climbing program and that we won’t reach the summit of Aconcagua. However, although you don’t need to be an experienced mountaineer to join this program, you do need to have a very good fitness level. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you on the way and to facilitate logistics so as to make the trip all the more enjoyable!

Price includes:
Meals: all the meals from lunch on Day 1 to lunch on Day 7.
Special dietary needs (vegetarians, celiacs, etc.) please inform the organizers in advance.
Trekking food: all trekking food: dried fruits, cereal bars, chocolate, etc.
Accommodation: 1 night at mountain refuges in Penitentes. 5 nights in dormitory domes (4 or 8 persons).
Guides from MONS – Actividades de Montaña. Professional Guides – registered by the Province of Mendoza, with specific qualifications in First Response in wilderness areas.
VHF Communication equipment.
First-aid Kit.
Transfers: Mendoza City – Penitentes – Mendoza City.
Counseling in equipment and the necessary process to access Parque Aconcagua.
Transport of group equipment to Confluencia Camp.

Itinerary
Day 1: Mendoza City – Penitentes
In this first day we have our meeting in Mendoza Airport. Then we will go to our accommodation in the city to check the personal equipment. If necessary, we will go to a rental shop. After that, we will go to the Aconcagua Park Office to get the ascent permits and we will talk about the development of the expedition. From our accommodation, we will have transportation to Penitentes.
Day 2: Penitentes – Horcones – Confluencia
After breakfast, we will go to the Horcones Valley 2.950 m Here we get our climbing permits stamped at the rangers checkpoint and begin the approach to Confluencia camp. After a relaxed hike, we arrive at the camp, Confluencia 3460 m. For the hike, you will be carrying only a day pack with some essentials, as the mules take care of the heavy duties.
Day 3: Confluencia – South Face Aconcagua Viewpoint – Confluencia
After breakfast, we will start our trek to South Face Aconcagua Viewpoint 4.000 m We will see a giant wall that stands 3,000 meters above us, really impressive. From this place, Aconcagua appears more magnificent and intimidating than ever. We can see the entire South Wall. We’ll trek for about 5 hours. We will back to Confluencia Camp.
Day 4: Confluencia – Plaza de Mulas
After breakfast, we start our walk across “Playa Ancha”. We slowly gain altitude up to the Horcones Superior Valley. After hiking across Playa Ancha and climbing up through a very steep path, “Cuesta Brava” (meaning Rugged Slope), we reach Plaza de Mulas, at 4.250 m.
Day 5: Plaza de Mulas
Rest day in Plaza de Mulas, at 4.250 m. This day will be to know the Plaza de Mulas camp. You can visit the tallest Art Gallery in the World (World Guinness Record.) The immediate vicinity of the camps, with the incredible view of the Western Wall of Aconcagua, the Horcones Superior Glacier, and Cerro Cuerno.
Day 6: Ascent to Mt. Bonete
After breakfast, we start the ascent to Mt Bonete’s summit. From this mountain, we´ll see the awesome Aconcagua west face, as well the huge Plaza de Mulas’ Base Camp. The surrounding landscape it’s amazing, you could admire the vast expanse of the Andes. Then we return to Plaza de Mulas.
Day 7: Plaza de Mulas – Penitenes – Mendoza
Descent to Penitentes. Transportation to Mendoza. Accommodation. End of our services.
