This 7-day program is to ascend Cerro Tolosa, in Mendoza, Argentina.
Tolosa Peak is in the International Route 7 that connects Argentina and Chile, so it is really easy to access the area. We will approach the summit through the beautiful glacier route called “Hombre Cojo Glacier”.
This mountain is perfect to improve your high altitude ice climbing techniques in a fantastic scenery. Tolosa peak is neighbor of American´s King “Mount Aconcagua” (6962 m) so from the summit you have an incredible view to the South step face of the tallest peak in America.
I propose the following itinerary for this mountaineering trip.
Arrival to Mendoza City and Welcome dinner. Overnight in *** Hotel.
Transfer from Mendoza Bus Station to Las Cuevas Village. Overnight in “Viento Blanco Refuge” at 3000 m.
Move to Camp 1 at 4300 m.
Acclimatization day, hiking in the surroundings to check the ice conditions. Overnight at 4300 m.
Climb up the Hombre Cojo Glacier. Overnight at 4900 m.
Summit and then return to Refuge Viento Blanco at 4200 m.
