Description

When it comes to enjoying Patagonia, the options are virtually endless. There is just so much to do and so much to see. So on this 13 day adventure, I have designed a trip that will allow you to start in the beautiful city of Bariloche, move on for several days in the gorgeous areas of Baguales, and conclude in the volcanoes of Chile, before returning to Bariloche.

Baguales is a an amazing place. The mountain reserve is unforgettable, and is filled with the kind of breathtaking natural scenery that has come to define Patagonia. You will also get to enjoy some great slopes and sleep in some comfortable refuges.

Once we reach Chile, the terrain, like the adventure, will shift to picturesque volcanoes. The list of volcanoes on this portion of the trip include Lonquimay (2,865m), Llaima (3,125m), and the Lanin volcano (3,747m). You will get to ascend and enjoy the trill of splitboarding down all of these great peaks. Along with the peaks, you will also get to enjoy some hot springs, visit San Martin de los Andes, Pucon city, and drive along the seven lakes.

Participants on this trip should be able to splitboard at an advanced level and be in excellent physical condition.

To enjoy this adventure, all you have to do is send me a request. I look forward to guiding you. And if you only want to experience one of the portions of this trip, either Baguales or the volcanoes, just let me know. I will be happy to work out a specific itinerary for you.

I also lead a 12 splitboarding tour around Bariloche as well, if you want to see more of that splendid area.

About the guide

I was born in a very remote area of northern Argentina which gave me a special appreciation for the outdoors. When I was 16 my family moved south, closer to the mountains, and I started to climb in the Andes. I've been mountaineering – trekking and climbing – ever since.
I've traveled and climbed throughout Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, the USA, Canada and Europe. I spent two summer seasons working in Aosta, Italy where I completed numerous ascents and climbing on the area.
At some point in my younger years, my career path steered me to the telecommunications industry, scaling towers and fixing cellular systems. But the mountains were never far away and I eventually returned to my roots and become a mountain guide since 2001.
In the winter I focus on being a ski guide around the mountain range and also the volcanoes, this is how I spend part of my time on the winter seasons as well as teaching backcountry ski and avalanche awareness courses.

We had really difficult conditions (ice-cold and strong winds), but made it up the top of Pico Argentino. Thanks to Lucas, who is a fantastic guide and a very nice person. Highly recommended tour, which for sure was the highlight of our trip to Patagonia.

Our experience with Lucas was fantastic. He was always on top of everything, from rough hiking conditions, to how much water we were drinking (or not drinking enough), to the blisters in our feet. It was late in the season so reaching the peak of Mount Tronador was tough and most guides were not even doing it anymore. But Lucas took us nonetheless to at least try and get there even though it was not granted we were going to make it. But we did, even with a very difficult terrain he pulled his best to take two inexperienced hikers to the peak

It was a real pleasure to spend two amazing days with Lucas. Really nice to spend time with him and most important Lucas is really a good guide. The trips were amazing with a fantastic scenario. Even if snow conditions were not the best, the panorama has played a key role in making this trip unforgettable

My husband and I have been on many incredible hikes all over Argentina with Lucas as our Guide. He has taken us to the most phenomenal places and pushed us (willingly) to our limits whilst at the same time always feeling very safe knowing that he is such an expert and highly qualified mountaineer. We have crossed glaciers wearing crampons as the sun rises, we have climbed volcanoes that we thought would never be physically possible, and Lucas has been fun and entertaining along the way. He jas great judgement - the tripas are planned and amended along the way in order that you can totally disconnect from everyday life. Every trip also contains interaction with local people and so we have learnt a lot about Argentinean culture and Argentinean people. Georgina and Rob Smart - England

Have recently hiked up Mt Tronador with Lucas as a guide. The rest of the team and I were very happy to have him guide us. He is very professional and experienced, yet also very attentive and friendly. Would definitely consider hiring him again for our next adventure!
