Description

The classic alpine traverse known as Haute Route, is waiting for you to cross it from the breathtaking heights of the Mont Blanc in Chamonix, France, to the unique landscapes viewable from the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Zwitzerland.

You and your splitboard could be part of my version of this well-known route, connecting western Europe’s heighest peak, Mont Blanc (4810m), to the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn (4478m).

The suggested program is this: to spend 8 days ascending and descending more than 20 glaciers and thousands of meters of slopes covered by the most pure snow. To overnight in comfy lodges and huts specially designed to pamper you after a long day of splitboarding. And to take home impressive mental images (and actual pictures) of this paradise.

The route will probably surprise us with narrow ridges and steep ascents, but you will be taken care of. I will guide you from day one of this adventure. You just have to make sure that you have a strong background splitboarding and advanced technical skills in this activity.

Come along! Book this program and get a front row ticket to see one of nature’s most incredible settings.

I can also guide you in this 6-day splitboarding tour in Lyngen Alps, Norway.

About the guide

I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide and I'm passionated about nature. I was born in 1977 and before entering in the mountain life, I worked as a teacher in Borg Lienz.

I started training as a canyoning guide 15 years ago. Since 2009, I have also trained with canyoning leaders in Carinthia. Additionally, I have been on the road as a mountain and ski instructor. During the summers, I have guided a lot in Switzerland, where I took my guests to many mountains over 4000 meters high. My “motto” in the mountains and in life has always been the same: “Never stop exploring”

I work now for Carnicoalpin where our main objective is leading and accompanying you on steep mountains and great ski slopes with a particular focus set on safety.

For more information, please feel free to contact me. We can discuss about your wishes and the different options I offer. I will be really happy to be your guide and share a great moment with you!

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to climb Matterhorn - I was instead given a summit of Briethorn and Riffelhorn. Which, when purchased separately are nearly $1000 less. Overall, pretty disappointed with the experience. Best, Calvin

Tobias was an absolutely fantastic guide for our adventure on the Matterhorn (his 85th ascent!), and could not recommend him more highly as a guide and person. We required a second guide for the actual matterhorn climb as there was two of us - instead of Tobias telling us to find someone, he fully arranged another guide that he knew and trusted for the trip up, which allowed us to focus solely on our climbing and training for the Matterhorn ascent. When a gear breakdown affected our training climb on the Breithorn half traverse, Tobias adapted the training and route to give us a bit more time and coaching with the skills needed to successfully summit the Horn. He kept expectations very realistic, and pushed us as positively and confidently as possible. As a result, we made great time to the Matterhorn summit and back. He was also in constant communication in the months leading up to the climb, and constantly provided helpful tips and advice. Even met us for a drink when we arrived in Zermatt to introduce ourselves and gain some familiarity before the climbing began! The climb was a trip of a lifetime, and would not have been possible without Tobias. I will be booking with him again for my next trip to climb in the alps.
